Laid Back

Good people, good vibes, and good location. Relax and read a book or head out from base camp on your Jamaican adventure. The host is very warm and welcoming. The beach is within steps from the accommodations. It\'s next to a city park where locals relax on the weekend. The art and design is bright and fun. There is shade relief from the sun.

Authentic! If you are in Jamaica, you need to get to Jamnesia. Easy to find. A chance as a visitor to immerse yourself in the land of wood and water! The atmosphere is that of a friend\'s porch. I learned about the Red Dragon. Chatted with other visitors from New York and Canada. Heard some of Billy\'s newest musical creations, The Blue Nile. Oh yeah and we surfed! Trunked it in February - 4/3 is at home.

Relaxing and just what you need

I have been attending the Jamnesia open mic sessions for a while, which is held every other weekend. When I first attended to now, I can see where lots of progress and developments have been made. The atmosphere is very relaxing! I\'ve never surfed with them before but it looks super fun!

a week of adventures

jamnesia, jamnesia, jamnesia... how can i describe? well, this certainly isn\'t a place i will be forgetting any time soon for all manner of reasons. it\'s a small place with a big heart and whilst the waves never came, i still had a week full of adventures. even if you don\'t want to surf (or there are no waves), this is still a great place to base yourself. not only is kingston a short (and cheap) bus ride away, but there are miles and miles of beach to explore, including the beach where bob marley used to bathe. (fyi, i am a single female and felt perfectly comfortable and safe walking those miles of beach by myself.) if you love music, there is a live jam session every other saturday which has helped nurtured some amazing new artists. if you have a car, you can easily explore the south-eastern parts of the island using jamnesia as a base. if you like skating, there is also a burgeoning scene, so come for the dry land waves too. this is a real place for real people and it\'ll probably make you never want to leave. hugs and love and thanks to absolutely everyone i met.

Kingston & surf

We stayed for 2 nights at jamnesia. It was my first time in kingston. it is a very lovely place! just right at the beach were you can ride some waves, they also rent boards and offer surf lessons. the rooms have everything you need, like a fan, double bed and wardrobe. the bathroom is shared with others. but also nice and clean. I can totally recommend jamnesia.

Cool place

Jamnesia is a really cool place to go to. We went for 2 nights and tried to surf - unfortunately the waves weren\'t that good. But the camp is awesome...Billy and his family are nice and open people. They jam every saturday. Accomodation is basic but you dont need more. Good vibes!!

BEST WEEK EVER!!!!

I cant say enough how much of a good time we had at jamnesia. Billy, Maggie, Imani, Craig and Ronley all helped us have the most amazing time in Bull Bay. The surf camp is a 20 minute drive from Kingston, in a little village with places to eat, shops to get groceries from and even waterfalls to go to (cane river falls). The surf camp is right on the beach, you can hear and see the ocean from most of the rooms! The camp is so homely and chilled out, surf boards everywhere and hammocks to lie in. You can hire the boards for 10-20$ a day depending on the type of accommodation you have. The food that Maggie cooks is AMAZING, both my boyfriend and I are not vegetarian but every night we looked forward to what we would be served for the next meal. The location is perfect, its right on a bus route where you pay 1 US$ to get anywhere. Billy Ronley and Craig are more than willing to drive you anywhere you like on the island for really reasonable prices too. One day Ronley and his friend drove my boyfriend, myself and two other guests at the hostel to two different surf spots, and a waterfall, it was one of our favourite days. another day Billy took us to Boston bay (one of the most amazing beaches ever) to surf, then to the blue lagoon where we proceeded to climb a huge tree with rope swings, in the middle of a lagoon. Did I forget to mention that Billy Wilmot is a reggae rockstar, everyone knows him as Billy Mystic of the Mystic Revealers, give them a listen! Bearing this in mind, on every second saturday, he hosts \'Jamnesia\' which attracts reggae bands from around the island to come and play their music to those who want to listen. All of this happens right outside your bedroom window! ALsooooooo, we went to Dub CLub, a ridiculous reggae bar up in the hills that has a spectacular view of Kington. Cannot recommend enough! Cannot wait to come back to Jamnesia I am very depressed to be home. GOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jamnesia time

This place is awesome!!! The Wilmots have turned their home into a chill hostel like surf camp. If you\'re into surfing or want to learn they can handle any level of enthusiasm, and will shuttle you around to the best surf spots. The way affordable prices and vibe are so worth avoiding the resort scene for. There is mini-bowl for skaters, a bar, the dinners were totally delicious and the beach is right out the back gate. They will even hook you up with a rented board, driver and car to take you over to the other side of the island to the sweet surf spot of Boston Bay beach, which is very decent slice of heaven in and of itself. Both Jamnesia and Boston Bay beach are worth visiting even if you aren\'t into surfing(which I don\'t), the vibes are just right for a real non-touristy look at authentic Jamaica.

Surf + Music + Jamaica

If you are looking for a true Jamaican experience mixed with music and a surf vibe, look no further than Jamnesia. Owned and operated by Maggie & Billy Wilmot, the Jamnesia compound is located right on the beach of Bull Bay about 15min from Kingston International (KIN). The Wilmot\'s are actually famous in Jamaica for a few things! Billy Wilmot, AKA \"Billy Mystic\" is the front man for the globally recognized reggae band \"The Mystic Revealers\". Billy is equally know around the Caribbean for being the Godfather of Jamaican surfing, and to this day you can catch him and his 5 children ripping the multiple surf breaks around Jamaica. Finally, Jamnesia puts on an incredible open mic / reggae show at the hotel every other Saturday! Enjoy cold redstripes and excellent vibrations as Kingston\'s famous and soon to be famous reggae talents jam out in the facilities courtyard. If you are looking for fancy accommodations, this is not the place. Clean, simple rooms with a super friendly staff / family is what makes it. If you surf... its a no brainer, the Wilmot family are the best surfers in Jamaica and will know right where to go. My wife and I had an incredible experience and will be going back for sure!
