Lovely Cottage with 180 degrees of white water views. You can see and hear the crashing waves below. A/C, Private , Romantic with a gorgeous outdoor shower, this is a totally separate living space from the art studio where I live and work. I am available for any needs you may have, will help you get the most out of your St. John experience. I provide a romantic welcome dinner on your arrival night.
 
The space
The Cottage is about 40 steps down from the main house where the art studio is located. A cozy high vaulted ceiling cottage with an incredible outdoor shower area and lovely wrap around porch. Views from every area! This property overlooks Hurricane Hole, East End and Norman Island.
 
Guest access
The entire lower section of the property is yours to enjoy in privacy. The gardens, the outdoor kitchen area, the views.
 
Interaction with guests
I live and work in the art studio above the cottage. I am available for all your needs should one arise and my guests are always welcome into my space while your living space is your own.
 
Other things to note
St. John is a mountainous Island and House of Open Arms is located on the peninsula of Fortsberg which has a steep access slope and about 80 steps to the cottage. This is never a problem for the young and the young at heart and the adventurous. The cottage is about 5 minutes to the closest beach and walking distance to Coral Bay. It is always wise to rent a car on St. John no matter where you stay. There is much to miss if you don't.

I own House of Open Arms on St. John, USVI. It is a lovely quest House: villa and separate cottage overlooking Hurricane Hole, East End and Norman Island.I am also a potter who sells her work to many on St. John and off Island as well. My main form of pottery is to create light sconces for people's homes. But I also do gallery work: urns, vases, vessels,bowls. I love people, I love to cook and I love creating artwork. I also love St. John and enjoy sharing this Island with my guests. I love to laugh and my life motto seems to be Carpe Diem!

Terms & Conditions

A cancellation fee of 20% of the total booking price will be assessed for all cancelled reservations that can be rebooked. If the reservation cannot be rebooked, the 50% deposit will be forfeited. No refunds 15 days prior to arrival. Rates and reserved dates listed on website are subject to change without notice, but are guaranteed upon receipt of the deposit.

Great place!


Catherine was wonderfully communicative. She met us at the ferry, walked us through purchasing groceries and picking up our rental jeep, and even made a fantastic meal for our first evening. She was incredibly helpful with tips on how to navigate the island which were tailored for our needs. We could not have asked for a more extraordinary experience!

Very nice house


The Cottage At The House Of Open Arms is absolutely a wonderful place to stay on St John. Although there are still reminders of last falls hurricanes around the island, St John is now both welcoming and beautiful once again! After 12 days there we fell in love with the character and atmosphere of this lovely vacation destination. The cottage , with stunning views and unique ambience is the perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself. Catherine was the perfect host. She met us at the Cruz Bay Ferry Dock, took us to get our rental car, went with us to the grocery store, showed us the way to her home and cottage and then cooked us a wonderful dinner to help celebrate our first night there. She was very accommodating and made us feel comfortable from the start. We will definitely be staying with Catherine again in the future.

Wonderful Home!


Catherine is the most wonderful host! Her hospitality is heartwarming. After our trip was delayed 24 hours, she upgraded us to the villa. She was so helpful from the moment we booked with her, giving us recommendations and directions. After arriving at the ferry dock, she picked us up, took us to get our rental car, groceries and finally to her place. We had an incredible trip and absolutely loved the location! The views are spectacular. We slept to the sound of the waves and woke up to gorgeous sunrises. It’s so peaceful there! If we are able to visit St. John again we will absolutely stay with Catherine again. I would recommend both the cottage and villa to anyone wanting to come to St. John.

Loved it!


Catherine went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. She picked us up at the boat dock and helped us find our rental car took us to the grocery store and then go to a wonderful retreat in Coral Bay she then made us a homemade dinner which was outstanding! We enjoyed our time and Coral Bay exploring the beaches and restaurants just can\'t say enough about the spectacular setting and wonderful host!

A Sweet Paradise


This is our 2nd visit to the Cottage of Open Arms. We simply love the peaceful location, cozy and quaint cottage. Catherine truly makes her guests feel at home with the welcoming dinner she so lovingly prepares for you, fresh made granola, juice, coffee, etc...Sleeping in the comfortable bed listening to the waves crash and island sounds is so soothing. The outdoor shower is just fabulous, with amazing views as you lather up with specialty shampoo and bath wash she leaves for her guests. Sitting out on the deck with the most breathtaking views, sunsets, sunrises...it's simply a slice of heaven! You can\'t help but leave refreshed and renewed with a heart full of gratitude for the opportunity to stay at such a lovely peaceful paradise! Until next time...
