Why Jay Carow chose Southbury
This historic home is a jewel set in a cluster of other jewels surrounded by rolling hills with a cascading river, wildlife, flowers, and stately trees. It is a wonderful place to live to live and visit if you love history, tranquility and nature. It is easily reached from Manhattan - 90 minutes by car and just over 2 hours by bus, and 50 minutes by bus from Hartford.

What makes this House unique
Of special quality are the views out to the lawns and forest from the glassed-in and sky-lighted solarium with its huge fireplace, once the summer cooking place. The room and this room and the lawns it opens onto have been used for multiple weddings, family gatherings and evants of all kinds.

The historic village's Congregational Church is across the street and worthy of a visit. Within ten minutes walk are dozens of hiking trails and a few miles away there's Woodbury, the first settlement in the area founded in 1673 and now the beginning of CT's Antiques Trail and beyond all of Litchfield County.

charming antique carriage house! Great central location.

The carriage house is in a great spot if you are staying in the region. Lovely gardens provide a tranquil outdoor setting.

Home away from home

We loved staying here with our toddler. Jay was a great host and offered us a bottle of wine upon arrival. We had everything we needed to be comfortable and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The house is only 10 min. from our family and we loved having friends over to eat outside after the baby went down. And she loved running around the beautiful yard and playing in the gazebo. We will be making Jay\'s carriage house our home away from home next time we go back to visit.

Great historic home on a lovely piece of property.

Spent long weekend here with our dog who loved the big lawn the the nearby dog park, which is enormous. Jay was a great host and we played tennis with him as well as some drinks. Fascinating host with great stories. Would definitely rent again.

Wonderful home, beautiful property, extremely nice host!

First time using this site. We had a great experience! We pulled up to a beautiful home and was greeted by Jay. He is very nice and eager to help. The home is warm and inviting. It is close to so many cool places, hiking trails, antique shops, markets, and more! Wonderful stay. I Would love to stay again.

Great host

We needed a weekend off and this was the perfect place. It is not to far from anything in Connecticut while being nice and quiet. The carriage house is well kept and pretty. The owner is gracious and kind. Enjoy your stay!
