Keywords: The history of the Folly Barrack House began at the turn of the last century with WWI.  The army installed hundred of metal 'barracks' in North Charleston near the Naval Yard to house troops headed for Europe.  At the end of the war, the 'barracks' were given away to anyone who would dis-assemble them and haul them away.  In the mid 1920's, two 'barracks' were brought to Folly, re-assembled, a room placed between them, a front porch added across the front and a back porch also.  This formed the beginnings of the Folly Barrack House. Our family has vacationed here since 1950 and wants to share the experience with others. First floor efficiency was added in the 70's which is rented yearly.  Complete renovation Spring 2012.  A two minute walk to the beach, and just minutes from all the charms and attractions of historic Charleston.  Only 11 blocks from all Folly's shops and restaurants.  Ocean view from sun room/den.

Perfect family beach house!

My husband and I, along with our 17 month old son, had a great experience here the first week in April. The house was incredibly clean and toddler friendly - it reminded us of houses our families would rent when we were kids. The kitchen has everything you need and the beach is a very, very short walk away. Highly recommend this place and we hope to be back soon!

Great Beach Getaway

My husband and I booked the Folly Barrack House last minute, the owners were very accommodating and the check in and out process was a breeze. The house has a large patio that is great for relaxing! It is right next to a beach access, which they were remodeling during our stay, but I\'m sure it will be open soon. We didn\'t realize there is a couple who lives in the ground floor unit, but honestly we barely even noticed them, there were no disruptions at all. We loved that it was far away enough from the main strip but not a long drive when leaving Folly! Also, the master bedroom and bath remodels were great!

Perfect

Perfect location owner of home is very nice and easy to deal with

4th of July Stay

so close to the beach! a wonderful little home for a getaway!

Great spot for a quick family getaway

Space was perfect for a handful of days relaxing with the fam. Spacious, clean and much closer to the beach than expected. Besides the less than ideal weather the latter couple of days, we had a great time and the house to give a lot of credit to.
