We are situated near to major restaurants such as TGI Fridays, located West of Queen’s Park Savannah, China Palace in Elerslie Plaza, St. Clair, Subway and Lawrence of Arabia in Shoppes of Maraval on the Maraval Saddle Road and Jenny’s on the Boulevard located on Ariapita Avenue. Belmont is located on the northeastern area of Port of Spain and was the city’s first suburb.  It is known for its cultural heritage since it is the birthplace and early home of many important Carnival designers and bands.  It is the home of approximately ten (10) Pan yards including: Trinidad Casablanca, Pandemonium, Super Sonics, BP Renegades and many others.

Villa Shalom is located about ten (10) minutes walking distance from the Queen’s Park Savannah, one of the world’s largest roundabouts, which is north of downtown Port of Spain. Directly opposite of the Queen’s Park Savannah or ‘Savannah’ as it is normally referred to by locals, are the Royal Botanic Gardens, Emperor Valley Zoo and the President’s Residence.

The southern part of the Savannah is the main venue for Carnival activities and it is now the proposed site for the new Cultural and Entertainment Centre. Across the street from the southern end of the Savannah, lies the Memorial Park and The National Museum.

Two major banks are located on the eastern side of the Savannah. They are Citi Bank and First Citizens Bank Ltd.  On the Western side of the Savannah is the Princes Building Grounds, the proposed site for the Performing Arts Center and the Magnificent Seven (7).

For the sporting enthusiast, the Savannah is not only a place of culture but it is also a place where people can go to run, walk and exercise or play sports such as football (soccer), rugby or cricket.

Within walking distance (about 15 minutes) is the recently refurbished Queen’s Park Oval, one of the major locations for cricket in the West Indies.

Enjoyed our stay

Villa Shalom was great! We were two friends staying in a big room with our own bathroom and A/C! Everything was good and Ann Marie was kind and very helpful. The area was okay - we felt safe in Ann Marie\'s house. The house is located close to the Queens Park and central Port of Spain is within walking distance.

Great

the room was really really nice well kept comfortable clean, hotel is in a very safe neighborhood, close to the savanna for great eats, centrally located, Anne Marie will even cook you breakfast with wonderful fresh fruit beverage.

Excellent accommodation and customer service.

I was born in Trinidad. Since 2005, I have frequented guest homes in Valsayn, Diego Martin and Siparia. Anne Marie went above and beyond in service to ascertain that my visit was enjoyable. She provided her own cell phone, tablet and internet as my cell was roaming and I would incurred exorbitant charges on return to Texas. Anne Marie walked me to the taxi to ensure that I got the right one. I had an early morning appointment and due to traffic congestion, she walked all the way to Port-of-Spain. Anne Maria is very energetic and I had to keep up with her while heavily perspiring. She did not even perspire. It was like renting a mom. She took such good care.

Comfortable and felt like home!

The rooms are kept very clean, and the hostess Ann is warm, eccentric, and very helpful. She made delicious breakfasts in the morning, including local recipes like callaloo, fried plantains, etc. The whole place felt like a well-maintained home and is definitely worth the money.

Great homely stay

Ann Marie is a wonderful host. It was like a home from home - clean, comfortable and centrally located. Ann Marie will even cook a wonderful, local breakfast for you at a small additional cost. Great for the budget traveller. I stayed as part of a group of 5 students on our dental elective. I would definitely stay here again!
