Team America!

A dream of ours was to stay on a sailboat in the Caribbean. We are hard working mid-western folks who looked for quite awhile for the right opportunity. We looked at other brokered and chartered yachts, they were either too expensive or just didn’t feel right. Based on a recommendation from a coworker we checked out the Kindred Spirit for our vacation. We were still a bit apprehensive because it was a dream and we wanted it to go perfectly. I can honestly say Chris and Elizabeth blew away our expectations. We were able to charter for five days with food and drinks included at a reasonable price. The food was incredible! We were invited into their “home”, Kindred Spirit, treated like family, and we were shown the best of the Virgin Islands! I would recommend this Charter to anyone who thought this was only a dream and was unattainable. Great food, fabulous hosts, a trip of a lifetime!!

Extraordinary trip with an incredible crew

My wife and I along with two other couples spent 5 nights with Captain Chris and his first mate Elizabeth in November. From the moment they picked us up on St. John, they made us feel at home on their boat. They are incredibly nice, personable, and knowledgeable hosts. They know the islands like they are natives. They took us to excellent snorkeling locations, secluded beaches, all of the bar hot spots, and educated us about different attractions in the islands. The food they prepared was excellent and better than the restaurants we dined in. They are completely laid back and let you make the decisions about what to eat and what to do, but always have great suggestions taking into account the itinerary that you choose. While we sailed from place to place, Elizabeth would make us different drinks and whip up tasty snacks. The cooler was always stocked with cold beer and us winos never ran out of red wine. The all-inclusive option is really the way to go. Chris and Elizabeth really enjoy what they do and it shows in the way they treat their guests. Lastly, the boat is very sturdy and my wife who even gets car sick never got sea sick.

Beyond impressed

Expectations shattered - bar set very very high. We are on the return trip home having spent the past few days with Elizabeth and Chris. True professionals, extraordinary service, seamless experience. Oh and the food - restaurant quality from a galley - color me impressed. We will most definitely be back - hopefully many times over.

The Kindred Spirit - "A Perfect Storm!" - The Not to Miss Private Yacht Experience

Looking for a personalized adventure and like to visit secluded pirate coves with deserted beaches, bars and restaurants accessible only by boat, give Captain Chris and first mate Elizabeth a call! From your 1st inquiry to when you return to land, you are in good hands. We considered all our options (Villa? Yacht? Hotel?), Chris answered all of our questions timely and professionally. He was in constant contact with us up until the day we ferried to St. John. At the last moment, Chris had a family emergency. Captain Kara, ex- military and BVI knowledgeable, stepped in. Between Kara and Elizabeth, the first mate, tour guide and amazing cook, we had continuous fun! Elizabeth kept us “on course” planning each day’s activities, preparing gourmet quality meals, mid day cocktails, suggesting cool coves, unique bars and restaurants and sharing her knowledge about the islands sites. Sleeping arrangements were very comfortable and rival those of five star hotels – queen bed, private bathroom with shower and hot water, stereo, fans, big kitchen, private chef. It is a catamaran, so don’t pack a huge suitcase. You are on the open seas with others “in the same boat.” Bring your t-shirts, bikinis, flip-flops, swim shorts, sun tan lotion, and necessary toiletries in a knapsack. Elizabeth had everything else we needed - SUP boards, snorkel gear, binoculars, towels, etc. After a quick stop at customs (bring your passports) we set sail. Memorable excursions included snorkeling the Indians, an afternoon of sunbathing at “spit island,” Saba Rock, Jost Van Dyke, home of the famous Soggy Dollar where Pain Killers are strong (more rum than juice), and our favorite, the eclectic One Love Bar and Grill. Don’t miss The Baths, on Virgin Gorda. There are only 2 places on earth with these majestic, glacial rock formations. The professionally prepared and presented meals by Elizabeth were one of our top BVI highlights, an experience you will NOT find written up in any travel book. TAKE THE MEAL OPTION! We woke up to specially prepared breakfasts before heading off for the day. We would visit private resorts with pools, restaurants, bathrooms, bars and beaches for lunch. We’d return for a mid-day snack and cocktail with the crew. When the sun set, Elizabeth would appear from the galley with a gourmet meal. 4 nights was not enough. We missed Anegada, the northernmost of the BVIs. We will return to continue our adventure, on board The Kindred Spirit of course!

Kindred Spirit

This was really an awesome experience. I highly recommend this boat and this experience to anybody. The crew went above and beyond anything we would\'ve expected, and the owner who wasn\'t able to be there made sure we were treated like Kings and Queens. Travelling allover the USVI\'s and BVI\'s, we went places and saw things that I can\'t wait to get back to experience again. If I could put my email address or phone number on here, I\'d gladly take any calls for any recommendations or references as to how sweet this was. Thanks for a great time Kindred Spirit. See you soon.

Kindred Spirit

I cannot say enough about this boat and the crew. Kara and Morgan were off the chart. They immediately became part of TeamSS with a singular goal of creating a memorable trip. We managed to stop at all of the hotspots we requested and some additional spots new to us. Kara and Morgan were both extremely knowledgeable and professional whether it was tips on how to gracefully exit the dinghy or how to find quiet a spot to catch a few zzzz\'s on the Kindred Spirit. Food was undoubtedly better than some of the $200 meals I had on shore. Cannot believe that I went years with Tony Chachere\'s in our cabinet and never put it on my eggs. After many island trips we decided to try a chartering for a day or two. Best decision we ever made. We have already decided next year will be a 7-day charter and we can think of no one better to do that with than Kara and Morgan. If you are on the fence about chartering please do yourself a favor and charter this boat. While the owners were stateside they were very accommodating and ensured that we had everything needed. If you do luck out and are able to get Kara and Morgan, I promise that you will have a memorable trip and be as hooked as #teamSS.

Best family vacation ever!

Our family sailed with Kindred Spirit over spring break and it was the BEST family vacation we’ve ever taken! Our kids ages 16, 14 and 10 want us to book already for next year...I don’t think they will ever want to stay on land again! I can’t say enough how awesome Elizabeth and Kara were! We found out the week before our trip that Chris had to go home for a family emergency and that Kara would be our captain. I was a little bummed because we had heard such great things about Chris. But there was no reason to worry, Kara was a very competent captain and really fun! I appreciate Chris and Elizabeth making sure we were in good hands when Chris wasn’t able to be there. And Elizabeth…what can I say…she made the trip for me! As a mom, even on vacation I find myself shopping, cooking, and cleaning up as we usually stay in rented houses or villas. To have someone to do all that, as well as being our private tour guide, was a real luxury! My teenage daughter even remarked how nice it was to have me truly relaxed and enjoying myself. The highlights of the trip: 1) THE FOOD: Elizabeth is an amazing cook! You’ll be amazed of what comes out of her little kitchen. Get the provisioning package! Grocery shopping in the BVI is difficult and part of this vacation is not having to worry about that. Elizabeth will take care of everything for you and it’s worth every penny! 2) THE SNORKELING: We been to the BVI many times but have never experienced snorkeling like we did this trip. Elizabeth knows all the great spots...we saw rays, eels, a nurse shark, and to many giant sea turtles to count! 3) THE SERVICE: Elizabeth and Kara were always on top of things! They wouldn’t even allow us to carry our bags, hang up towels, etc. The boat was spotless! Drinks and snacks were offered all the time. 4) THE PROFESSIONALISM: Not everything went according to plan…there was a crazy North swell that kept us from going to some of the places we wanted to visit. They took great care to keep us on the southern side of the islands where it was calmest. When they didn’t think we should go somewhere because of the conditions, Elizabeth came up with some amazing alternatives. I can\'t say enough about the Kindred Spirit! Looking forward to coming back (and meeting Chris) next year!!
