“Comfortable, Quiet and Economical”

This is a great house for the money! We were three couples that stayed at the house for four nights. The house is located at the top of the hill, with a great view of the ocean. The three bedrooms were a good size and the house was clean and updated. There are neighborhood dogs that are friendly and will come up to the house to greet you. Canaries is a much more local town (not touristy at all), so we relied on a car to take us to activities, the beach and to grocery shop. This is an ideal location if you want to avoid the tourist scene. If you do not wish to rent a car, Marcus can recommend a car service to you. Marcus was there to greet us and was very attentive throughout the stay. He was easily contacted via email and replied back in a very timely manner. If we needed any additional supplies, he was able to deliver them the same day. There are plenty of windows in the common area for air circulation. Depending on the temperature to which that you are accustomed, the bedrooms may feel warm at night even with the windows open. My one request is to provide a fan for the third bedroom, so that each room has either an AC or fan. I think it would also be helpful to provide extra toilet paper and paper towels (although Marcus quickly delivered supplies when asked!). All in all, a great house in a quaint town, a short drive away to surrounding attractions!

“This is the place to stay when you visit St. Lucia.”

Our family of four (2 teenagers) spent 5 nights at this lovely property in March 2015. The house is spacious and well maintained. The beds were comfortable. We found that the breezes were more than adequate to maintain a comfortable temperature through out the house. The wifi worked great the entire stay. Bubbles, the neighbor\'s dog, hung around the house and is one of the most well behaved dogs we have ever met. Bubbles met us in the carport wagging his tail every time we returned to the house. We found the central location to be to our liking. We rented a car and visited beaches and sites all long the west coat of St. Lucia. The town of Canaries is less than a 10 minute walk away. We walked into town two evenings to enjoy a beer and mingle with the warm and welcoming Canaries community. Marcus, the owner of the property, had many excellent recommendation for sight seeing. He arranged for us to enjoy a local breakfast at Del\'s Rainforest Cafe in Canaries. (If you\'ve been on a Rick Steve\'s tour in Europe, you know much fun it can be to eat where the locals eat and eat what the locals eat.) Marcus genuinely wanted us to have a great time in St. Lucia and went out of his way to help us in every way. If we had to change anything about our stay at this great house, it would have been to bring our own beach towels. (Bring your own soap and shampoo, too.)

“Look no further for your home away from home”

My stay was from 16-21 Feb 2015. Marcus met us at the airport. He also assisted us with a car rental, when our car rental reservations fell through. Thank goodness Marcus was there to assist. He was very gracious in taking us to a car rental location that he was familiar with. Once we had wheels, we were off to begin our St Lucia vacation. We followed Marcus to a nearby grocery store where we picked up food items to hold us over for a few day. Once done, Marcus show us the way to his beautifully laid out home. The consummate professional that he is, he explained the layout of the home, what switches operated which lights, the features of the home etc. The home has all the appliances, utensils, and cook ware needed. There\'s also a phone in the home for emergencies. There\'s a bedroom on the first floor that was very convenient, as my cousin had a knee replacement a few weeks prior. There was no real need for air conditioning, as the home has plenty of windows, so you had a great deal of cross winds, without the problems with insects. The view from every room is breathtaking! This vila is tucked away and centrally located. For us this was a plus, as we were able to travel rather easily north and south for the island, with not much chance of getting lost. If you aren\'t use to mountainous driving, you may decide to use the taxi service on the island. However, I discourage that, as you would be losing out on a great deal of the island experience. Keep in mind that the Lucian community are experts on these roads, and are well aware of the novice drivers (tourist). They do not scare easily and are very skilled in avoiding accidents. Take your time and you should be successful navigating your way around. We enjoyed being on our own time, site seeing the way we wanted. Taking in the gorgeous scenery as we drove around the island. Marcus is very reminiscent of what our experience with the local community, very accommodating, helpful and polite. He made himself available to all our questions, and offered his expertise with activities we wanted to do. I cannot say enough about him. All around wonderful person. We were also welcomed by Bubbles. As we are all animal lovers, this added to the home away from home feeling. He greeted us everyday of our stay. Bubbles belongs to the neighbor across the road. This dog, as in true Lucian style, is laid back and well mannered. Not intrusive, yappie or destructive. Bubbles is truly a lovable dog. Personally i think this home rental is priced well below what I would have expected. It\'s beautiful, clean, well equipped and in a great location for those who enjoy their privacy and intimacy of feeling at home. Marcus, thank you for sharing your home with us. We truly enjoyed our experience as well as making a new friend! We\'ve all decided that this would not be our last time on the island. Kisses to Bubbles!

“Comfortable, economical, centrally located, and homey”

I travelled to St. Lucia with 2 friends and stayed 9 days at Bocean Villa. It is a lovely location atop a hill from which you can see the ocean from your windows and two balconies. The master bedroom on the second floor is massive and has a king sized bed, a huge walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom as well as its own balcony. It\'s delightful and cheerful. There is another small bedroom on the second floor which is the smallest room of the 3 bedrooms, and would be great for a family traveling with kids. The only downside is that the person staying in that room has to use the downstairs bathroom at night because the upstairs bathroom is part of the Master suite. The downstairs is an open floor plan including kitchen, dining area, living are and office area. It felt very open and with the windows and doors open, was very breezy and comfortable. My friends and I cooked most of the time and the kitchen had pretty much everything we needed-a couple of better cutting knives would have been helpful, but otherwise it had all the conveniences of home. And the place is wired for 110 V as well as 220V, so we did not need a converter for our appliances or computers. The bedroom downstairs was a nice size, comfortable, and right across from the bathroom. I mentioned to Marcus, the owner, that having some hooks installed on the doors in the bathroom and bedroom would be helpful to hang extra towels and clothes, and he was very amenable to any suggestions to improve the guest experience. The house was perfect for the 3 of us , who each needed a private bedroom. While it is not right on the beach (if it were, we could not afford it) we enjoyed the 20 minute walk to and from a nearby cove to go swimming. It is a little bit of a hike, so you have to enjoy the exercise for this to be right for you. Also, we had a delightful visitor every day, usually around meal time-Bubbles, the neighbor\'s dog. He was the sweetest guy and unbelievably well behaved. We let him in to our home and he just stayed by the door, never begged for food, but was so happy when he ultimately got his little plate (we are all mad for dogs and cats, so this really made our stay homey). We loved the house and felt very comfortable fro the first minute we got there. In addition to everything else, there was a workspace for computer work, and wifi never went down. If I had something I wanted improved, I would say we could have used better lighting, particularly in the kitchen. We did mention this to Marcus and he has put it on his to do list. Marcus, from whom we also rented a car, was incredibly attentive and helpful. We had a couple of car issues, one of which was 2 flat tires at the same time. We called Marcus and he dispatched help ASAP. (Driving in St. Lucia is a harrowing experience and not for the feint of heart-it is an endless stream of hairpin turns and potholes-feels kind of like playing a video game when you are behind the wheel, but not in a fun way.). We did a lot of driving because we wanted to see as much as possible, and Marcus was very helpful in pointing us in the right direction to cover the ground we wanted to cover. In summary, if you want a resort experience, this is not it. This is more like being in your own home but in another country. It\'s great for families or friends traveling together. Marcus is a very fair and helpful guy, who wants nothing more than to have his clients have a great experience. If you are looking for an economical and pleasant way to see St. Lucia, and you have a little more of an adventurous spirit than a resort oriented person, you will not be disappointed with this house, and you could not ask for a better landlord than Marcus..

“Spacious home with a beautiful view close to all the amazing St. Lucia sites!”

2 of my friends and I stayed at Marcus\' house for 4 nights and loved every moment of it! The home is beautiful, spacious, and has all the comforts of home. Marcus is extremely helpful and attentive when needed. The house is located just outside Canaries and not only are you close to amazing beaches and beautiful Soufriere, but you are near the St. Lucia locals (some of the kindest people I have ever met). I would recommend you have a car if you stay away from the main towns or want to see more than one part of the island. Marcus\' house is perfect for the traveler that wants to see the island, but be away from the tourist masses.

“Great central location for access to premier beaches and southeastern sections of island”

I travelled with my family (two teenage daughters). The house is in ideal location for access to two of St. Lucia\'s premier snorkeling beaches (Anse Chastanet and Anse Cochon) - both are than a 20 min drive away. Both beaches allow you access ($10 access fee at Ti Kaye for Anse Cochon, but you can use the funds to pay for your lunch so a great deal). The house is located about 1 km N of Canaries and it is best if you have a rental car, as the house is away from town. The area is very safe and Marcus (home owner) is extremely kind and knowledgeable about the area (he grew up in Canaries). This area is the heart of southern district, so near the quaint town of Soufriere, where there are great hikes (definitely do the Tet Paul hike S of Soufriere for incredible views of the Pitons). If you want to get away from the crowds and large number of tourists at the northern end of the island, this is an ideal location.
