Eclipse House: A piece of Paradise

Eclipse House: A piece of Paradise, far from the maddening crowdâ€Â¦ Located at the western edge of town (Tzintzuntzan, Michoacan del Campo) just after the paved road becomes dirt, this delightful two-story house sits on the hillside, surrounded by cornfields and pastures. The huge terrace, overlooking the north end of Lake Pátzcuaro with an ever-changing view of the mountains, instills total peace and quiet. The house is equipped with everything one could possible need: from bed & bath linens, to a fully equipped kitchen with pots & pans, plates, bowls, cups, coffee maker, etc. (even a TV, which I never turned on once in the month that I was there. The radio was enough of a connection, with good stations.) Ideal for a retreat get-away, especially if you have a project that needs attention, focus, and few distractions (such as a writing project). The property is surrounded by stunning views, which would inspire any artist or naturalist (with an abundance of birds from dawn to dusk – not just ‘hummingbirds’ (Tzintzuntzan) and butterflies, so binoculars really are a must). Although out of the way (which in my book is not a bad thing), it is just a short walk into town, and, if need be, the bustling cities of Quiroga and Pátzcuaro are within a half hour-45 minute drive. The big city of Morelia is about two hours. Eclipse House is perfectly situated for day trips around the lake, and to spots further beyond. For two people it was just right, but four would be comfortable, I\'m sure. I would give Eclipse House 5-stars (I don’t think that there is a better shower in all of Mexico)! I definitely am considering returning - as soon as possible I could not imagine not having a car, for freedom & convenience sake (driving is more laid-back around the lake then in most parts of Mexico), and since the flights usually arrive late and depart early, one can be rented for a modest amount at the airport (and the Morelia Airport Hotel is a stone’s throw from the terminals, with an exceptionally amiable staff, and good restaurant - Mr Muu – which makes coming & going quite simple). People seem to be overly concerned and afraid of the dangers that they read about in Mexico in the papers or on the news. Not once in a month’s time was I ever concerned for my safety or well-being. The food is delicious, the people are kind, the history, culture and celebrations in this part of the country are amazing. The owners of Eclipse House have been very generous in making this spot available and giving people the opportunity to explore this area of Michoacan. With much appreciation, Hank Tusinski Tuscson, Arizona, USA

Very beautiful house with more things included than I could have imagined. I left yesterday and I already miss the place! It is fully furnished and has an excellent view of Lake Patzcuaro. Good management, very friendly, and very easy to check in and out.
