Description

Welcome to this 3 bedroom vacation cabin beautiful lakefront rental on Locke Pond in Chesterville. If you're looking for privacy on a quiet pond in Central Maine, this is the place for you. If you're looking for jetskis, water skiing, tourism, etc try the Belgrade lakes region, this house is all about quiet and privacy.

Why bother going on vacation if you have to spend a day packing and unpacking just to settle down? This vacation rental has everything you'll need to enjoy your week on Locke Pond. Before your arrival the house is professionally cleaned, sheets, linens and towels are all cleaned and set. The kitchen is fully applianced with everything you'll need, no worries about whether or not you need to bring a coffee maker and spatula, everything is there. The waterfront is complete with all kinds of toys to help you enjoy your vacation.

Most of the furniture in this home was handmade by a local artisan, Dennis Jepson, you will simply fall in love with his work. In the off chance you're interested in purchasing some of his wares, we can certainly hook youp with him. Top left, King size bed in the master bedroom, top right, Queen sized bed in the northwest bedroom (great view of the lake!) and on the bottom right, a full/twin bunk bed.  This home sleeps 7 total.

Top Left, a comfortably appointed living room with wall mounted satellite TV. Above, local hand made kitchen with granite counter tops. In the interest of full disclosure, there are some minor inconveniences about the kitchen cabinetry that are being addressed. On the left, we're all big Boston sports fans around here, so what home would be complete without a sports room? The downstairs basement is not completed, but has a 47" TV, full sized bar and reclining couch. In the summer time, this is the coolest spot in the house, with a great view of the lake from the huge picture windows.

One of the biggest concerns for anyone vacationing on lakefront is "can I swim in the lake"? Unfortunately, all too many folks with rental homes assume everyone likes to swim in lilly pads and 6" of muck. Not the case here, on the left is a picture of the swimming area taken on a beautiful spring afternoon. The substrate is rocky and sandy, so wear your sandals! There is muck in this lake, but the swim area is clean and enjoyable. On the right are the steps leading to the 20' dock, so no worries about older legs having trouble getting to the dock.

This house comfortably sleeps 7, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, one bathroom has a full shower/tub, the other has a standup shower.

My family has been vacationing on this lake for years, it's hard to imagine a quieter more peaceful place to spend your vacation time.  The foliage in late september and October is the prettiest you're going to see outside of the white mountains and the large mouth bass fishing has always been fantastic. The night time skies are as clear and beautiful as they get (the photo above is a long exposure photograph of the milky way rising over the pines). In short, if you're looking for a quiet getaway and are looking for a turnkey vacation, then you will love this vacation spot.

When you vacation in Maine, you're not there for the TV or the creature comforts, you're there for the great outdoors. This house is surrounded by decking to make the most of the glories of nature as well as fully furnished. Top left, the south side deck. The two giant french doors lead you from the living room to the deck with a six man table and hot tub as well as gas grill at the ready. Top right, a covered porch on the west side of the house, perfect for watching those sunsets or having that morning coffee rain or shine. Bottom left, this is the man deck, completely furnished with a bar built into the railings, one small step away from a 47" TV and bar. Bottom right, the 200 sq ft deck sitting 25' back from the shoreline, perfect for watching the kiddos in the lake, sunsets and listening to the loons. There is a small firepit nearby that is available but only with a local fire permit (we provide additional information for getting your fire permit).

Top left, Alletta having run in the kayak. Top right, you can see the swim float, dock, steps to the dock, furniture, paddle boat (available upon request) and canoe.  Bottom left, there's the kiddos in the 6 man hot tub and bottom right, the steepest part of the driveway. You should have good tires to get in and out of the driveway here. A 4wd SUV is ideal, but any car with good tires can get in and out.
