Description

Dave and Sherry Meador invite you to the Missouri River House & River Front Cabin in the Chestnut Valley of Cascade, Montana. Come sit on the deck and look through the cottonwoods to the Missouri River as it flows gently by or cast a line to rising fish during the evening caddis hatch. Watch the eagles fly from their nest and perch on a distant limb keeping a watchful eye on the waterfowl below. Imagine yourself, fishing, floating, biking, hiking, horseback riding or just relaxing on the deck. From the Missouri River House & River Front Cabin, you can enjoy all the benefits of fishing a blue ribbon trout stream without having to deal with the pressures of the more popular stretches of the Upper Missouri. Dave, a Missouri River Orvis endorsed fly fishing guide for nine years, can let you know what the fish are biting while you're there and who can guide you to the best spots. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings while being only 10 minutes from Cascade, a small Montana town with grocery store, cafe, and bar. You're 30 minutes from Craig, the fly fishing center of the Missouri. In addition, you're only 30 minutes from Great Falls and an hour from Helena.

We now have two adjacent properties to better serve you. The River House sleeps 7-9 comfortably with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There are also two fold outs if you need additional beds. It has all modern amenities including AC and central heat. The River Front Cabin has rustic charm but still with modern conveniences - it can accommodate 6-8 comfortably with 2 bedrooms, a loft and 2.5 bathrooms. The great room (of the River Front Cabin) features a full kitchen and dining area and a comfortable sitting area around the wood stove. Outside, a wrap around deck looks out on the river and an ample yard. There is a grill, a picnic table and chairs to lounge on. Further amenities include a washer/dryer and dishwasher. The River House has a full modern kitchen and lovely dining room that can seat ten or more with ease. The spacious living room provides a comfortable seating arrangement that looks out over the garden and the mountains beyond.  An easy to use wood pellet stove adds additional comfort on chilly mornings and evenings. The house has many antique furnishings that add to its Montana home appeal.

If you want to take advantage of the great fishing in other parts of Montana, Dave guides on the Smith, Blackfoot, Dearborn, and Sun Rivers. If he's not available, he can hook you up with a guided trip through Paul Roos Outfitters. If you get tired of fishing or want to try another activity you can float the river, hike, bike along the back roads or along the beautiful recreation road, bird watch, horseback ride or soak up the sun and a good book. Just a short drive away are the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center along the Lewis & Clark trail and Charles M. Russell Museum in Great Falls. There's also the Montana Historical Society, Archie Bray Foundation and the Holter Art Gallery in Helena.
