The space
JJEM Cabanas is a boutique resort in Maya Beach, Placencia, Belize. We currently have two cabanas available for guests, both identical with the exception that our Autumn cabana has a convertable bed that can be set up as a King or 2 XL Twins.
 
Each cabana has a fully equipped kitchen: a full sized refridgerator with a top freezer, oven/stove with pots and pans, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, slow cooker, blender and all kitchen necessities such as dishware and utensils.
 
The main living area has a comfortable couch with a 55" Smart TV that looks out to your seaview patio with comfortable outdoor furniture. A neat feature we installed is the blue tooth audio fan, to keep you cool while you listen to your favourite hits!
 
The bathroom has a full shower with on-demand water (it takes a little bit to heat up), toilet and vanity. The first aid kit is located under the sink with the complimentary hair dryer.
 
The seperate bedrooms at the back of the cabanas have 32" TVs mounted on the wall for cozy and easy bedtime watching. The air conditioning unit is also in the bedroom, with two breezeway doors open, it will cool the entire cabana quickly.
 
Newly constructed in 2023, JJEM Cabanas introduces our private pool behind the cabanas with a roofed social area!

Meet Michelle & Ed, a loving couple married for over 30 years. Raised two successful daughters, Jess & Julia. Their life began in snowy Ontario, Canada and years of planning have now brought them to Belize to open their own 'Dream Come True' small vacation resort. While the two J's of JJEM create their own lives, one in Canada & one here in Belize with us, both actively involved in the planning, design, marketing & accounting for JJEM Cabanas in Belize.

Highly recommend


We had a wonderful stay at this cabana in Maya Beach. The place was spotless, very comfortable, and literally steps from the beach. The pool was a great bonus, and the kitchen had everything we needed. It’s in a quiet area, perfect for relaxing, yet still close to good restaurants. You can really feel the care and attention in all the little details—this place is clearly made with love. Michelle was an amazing host, kind and always ready to help with anything we needed. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a peaceful and cozy beach getaway.

Great Host!!


Michelle is an exceptional host. When we arrived she greeted us with special extra local treats to ensure we enjoyed our stay even more. We loved hearing about how the place came to fruition. Lots to do, you can pick your own adventure of relaxing on the beach, hanging out by the pool, going kayaking, even little snorkeling off the beach. Also if you need anything Michelle will know the best and steer you in the right direction. Highly recommend!!

Perfect couples getaway!


Perfect couples getaway! The cabana was exactly as described. Well furnished, tasteful and without clutter. There are three cabanas, Michelle and Ed live in one and rent the other two. They were gracious hosts and we felt like we had our privacy and also got to enjoy them and the couple staying in the other unit. Michelle’s communication was top notch! She knows hours to host and thinks of everything. We will definitely stay at JJEM Cabanas again!

Beautiful place to stay!


What a lovely host and beautiful place to stay! We were greeted at to the property by Michelle and her daughter Jessie and got to enjoy their welcoming personalities our whole stay. We absolutely loved the unit - modern and comfy and steps from the ocean. Or if you prefer, a great pool in the backyard. We didn’t end up renting a golf cart and just wandered to close by restaurants and bars. Bikes and kayaks were also available to us. We would highly recommend staying here!

Great Stay!


We stayed for 5 nights and it was glorious. While the weather was a bit testy on some days, the cabana is so comfortable that we didn't mind spending a little time inside. The beach is nearly completely private and the view is amazing. The cabana was well-stocked and very clean. The pool area was great to hang in for the western sun. There were a variety of restaurant selections very near the cabana despite it feeling completely private. Michelle was extremely helpful and communicative. I would definitely stay again.

This place was fantastic -- well stocked with water, goody basket, comfy bed and pillows, kayaks. It was very quiet and private, with a great patio, right on the beach. Michelle checked in with us a couple of times and was very thoughtful. Thank you!

The space is absolutely gorgeous


Michelle and Ed are the best hosts! They helped us with anything we needed and made us feel at home. The space is absolutely gorgeous. There were drinks and treats waiting to welcome us after a long day of travel. We enjoyed the pool daily and the view of the ocean can’t be beat. The location is perfect. It’s close enough to walk to stores and restaurants, but just a short drive from everything else. We highly recommend this listing and can’t wait to book it again.
