St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. Known for its famous twin peaks and drive in volcano.

Facts About Destination

It's the only country named after a woman. Was 7 times British and 7 times French. Honeymoon destination of the world!

Area Information

Balata is a community on the outskirts of the city. It's halfway between Castries and the touristy north. The area is tranquil and green.

How to reach

International flights land at Hewanorra International Airport, which is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Regional flights land at the GFL Charles Airport, located 15 minutes away. There is also a ferry service that comes into Port Castries and that is a 20 minute drive to BalaCasa.

Transport system

It is recommended that you get a car to get around. However, BalaCasa is located about 7 minutes from the public bus route. (there is no schedules bus times). Taxi service is also available.

Precautions

No different to traveling anywhere else. Be mindful and make safety a priority.

Lifestyle

St. Lucian lifestyle is very relaxed. We enjoy being outside, a good party and fun sporting activities. The beach is never far away.

Best time to visit

Our rainy season starts in May and runs through to November. This is also our summer months. Outside of a hurricane during that time, expect occasional showers and warm sunshine. December to April marks our dry season. Characterized by fewer showers and warmer days.

Languages

English is our primary language. However there is the St. Lucian creole which is a mix of French and African pretty similar to what is spoken in Seychelle and Mauritius and Haiti.

Budget

That depends on what you wish to experience and length of your stay. There is something for every pocket!
