Description

The Diamond D Ranch is Idaho's premier all-inclusive guest ranch, nestled in the Frank Church Wilderness and surrounded by the Salmon River mountains. We offer several wonderful activities, including: horseback riding, fly-fishing, hiking, gold panning, swimming, and many evening festivities. After an exciting day at the ranch, many of our guests enjoy cracking a window at night and listening to the sounds of the bubbling stream and the wind in the trees from the comfort of their cabin.

Lodging
We have three two-bedroom cabins (each sleep six), one large 5-bedroom cabin (sleeps ten), and two suites. In addition, there is the main lodge which includes 3 bed and breakfast style rooms with either twin or queen beds.

The cabins each have a private bath, large living room and a small refrigerator for snacks and beverages. The three small cabins sit just above the creek (which is easily heard with a cracked window).

The large cabin has 2 king bedrooms, 1 queen bedroom (a handicap accessible room), and 2 rooms each equipped with 2 twin beds. It also has a large living room and 2 private baths.

All of our cabins and lodge rooms are comfortably appointed with a warm, inviting feel. Let the wilderness surround you as you relax and revive your spirit.

  • Tom and Linda

Tom first stepped on the ranch in 1951 as a 13 year old boy. The ranch looked nothing like it does now. There were no fences, no grass, no fields, not many buildings, but there was lots and lots of rock!! Tom had an amazing vision of what the ranch could be. With many years, blood, sweat, and tears...the ranch is now a wonderful getaway for guests to enjoy. Of course, Tom couldn't do this all alone. He had a lot of help and guidance from his wife, Linda. Linda built up the guest season, while Tom built up the outfitting business and the ranch itself. When you visit the ranch, be sure to ask Linda about the chapel, which took her 11 years to build. And be sure to ask Tom to share some of the many stories of the old west and all the many characters that helped build the ranch.
Tom and Linda invite you to the Diamond D Ranch for friendly hospitality, excellent fishing, beautiful hiking, horse trails, and fabulous food.

Unforgettable Beauty

Our family absolutely loves the Diamond D! We spent many summer vacations there as a family in the early 2000s, and returned this year with our now-adult son and his fiance to celebrate their engagement. The ranch is located in the most beautiful valley imaginable, and offers amazing hikes, horseback rides, fishing, and relaxation. Linda\'s chapel is an inspiration, and the whole ranch experience brings a sense of renewal. The Demorest family have become like extended family to us. Their hospitality, staff, and (my favorite) amazing horses bring us back year after year. Thank you again for an unforgettable vacation!

Family and Hunting Trip

We have visited the D on several occasions, for both summer recreation and a fall hunting trip. The crew makes you feel like part of the family. The food is excellent and the accommodations are top notch, considering you are in the middle of the largest wilderness in the lower 48.

A Magical Place

My family and friends visited the ranch for four days in June and it was an incredible memory. We hiked, went horseback riding, swam in the pool, had bonfires, ate s’mores, line danced, played lawn games - did all the things. The ranch is just gorgeous - spectacular mointain views - and the people and the culture make it even more amazing. This is the ultimate retreat and place to truly unplug. There really isn’t another place like it.

Love It!!!

My family and I have been guests at the Diamond D on multiple occasions and are eagerly anticipating a return visit this July. This is a family owned & operated business and the owners have a \"bend over backwards\" attitude towards the guests and will do just about anything to ensure guests have the time of their life. Additionally, the staff feeds off the example of the owners and are friendly, easily approachable and always looking to please. The kitchen provides three hearty meals a day and the cooks go above and beyond to accommodate dietary requests (I am dairy and gluten free) , preferences, and/or just requests for \"more\" for those with big appetites. The activities vary by day and are well organized and fun for all ages as well as being scheduled around the twice daily horseback rides. The horses are very easy-going and the wranglers knowledgeable and patient even with those who are younger or who just don\'t have much experience riding. The fishing in both the lake and the streams is fantastic and the scenery is indescribable. The road in is an adventure but is just part of the experience and well worth it once you arrive at the ranch and are welcomed as though you are family or old friends. 98/100 existing reviews rate the Diamond D Ranch as \"excellent\" so don\'t just take my word for it. I\'m sure you will not be disappointed!

Great Riding and Hunting

The best people to ride and hunt with, Dana, John, Kat, Cal, JR and Lisa were all first rate. I have been to several ranches for just horseback riding, the Diamond D also has great Elk hunts. I plan on returning again. Thank you to my new friends at the Diamond D
