Description

There is no better way to make your Montana vacation complete than by lodging in and enjoying a secluded, authentic hand made log cabin.

This cabin has been a 38 year labor of love by a carpenter  who designed it, cut and stripped over 180 lodgepole pine trees, and set in excess of 390 separate logs to create this beautiful log structure, unlike any you may have seen.  From the hand built cabinetry, the masonry work, the hardwood and quarry tile floors, the handrailings, to the one-of-a-kind log spiral staircase, the craftsmanship is apparent and admirable.

The cabin has been decorated and tastefully outfitted with authentic antique furniture and Persian rugs to create a truly "turn of the century" ambiance, but still has a modern kitchen and bath for your comfort. It is situated on the edge a Ponderosa pine forest, full of deer and wild turkeys; it is honestly a joy to hike through the forest and explore.

The Hermitage is licensed and inspected by the state to insure your safety and comfort

Privacy and seclusion is assured, as no other structure can be seen from The Hermitage and it is at the end of a 300 yard private driveway.

Picture yourself sitting on the back balcony with a drink in hand, reflecting on your long day of either fishing or floating, grilling steaks (or your fresh catch) as the sun goes down and observe the deer head back into the woods and the wild turkeys roost in nearby trees.  Just before dusk the nighthawks swoop down for your amusement.  After dinner on the back deck the stars glow brightly in the crystal clear air and the constellations dance across the sky.

This is the way to really relax and experience a memorable evening, Montana Style.

Beautiful & Private!

Absolutely loved our accommodations, so much so it was hard to leave and do the sight seeing we had planned! Thank you for sharing your amazing cabin..the Hermatage is 5 Stars!

The Hermitage was exactly what we were hoping for!

My husband and I are from a town a couple of hours from Columbus and wanted to get away to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. I researched places extensively and decided that we would both enjoy the solitude of The Hermitage. It was exactly what we were hoping for. It was secluded, rustic, spacious and set in beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed making dinner together and eating out on the patio. We watched the lightning storms and listening to the birds. We went into Red lodge and had lunch, but otherwise we just enjoyed the cabin. The mamma deer and her twins came by each morning and hung close to the cabin. We also saw the small buck a few times. We saw an owl, hummingbirds and many other birds. The cabin had everything you could need, including kitchen utensils, pans, dishes, spices, even some pantry items. There were extra towels and extra sheets. There was even some shampoo, conditioner and soap, which were things that I had forgotten. There were games to play, some DVDs and even some CDs. I\'ve read in other reviews about the cell service. It is not great. You can get it, but it comes and goes. Certain parts of the house get better service than others. Honestly, we didn\'t need to have service, but it was nice to send a text here and there to check on our house, pets and kids. There is plenty of room for people to sleep. There is a queen bed in the master loft, a blow-up mattress and bedding in the smaller loft, a futon in the TV room and then another pull out bed in the basement. The basement was VERY damp smelling. That is not out of the ordinary for a rustic cabin, but I\'m glad I didn\'t have to sleep down there. I could see a family coming here. I think kids would really enjoy the cabin and its surroundings. It\'s also in an excellent location for visiting Yellowstone or fishing the area\'s rivers. Cooney Reservoir is also very close and a fun place to recreate. The place cooled off good at night and we closed it up in the mornings before it started to warm up. One review I read stated there were \"lots\" of fans to use to cool the place off. We could only find one, up in the master loft. That one was very much needed to cool off the upper level. My one and only suggestion would be to have another fan or maybe even two available on the main level. All in all, we THOROUGHLY enjoyed the cabin and our anniversary trip. We are already telling our friends about it and looking at when we can visit The Hermitage again.

Peaceful

Cabin was great.

Wonderful Week in Montana

Amazing cabin! My wife and I enjoyed the cabin and the location, quiet and very peaceful. We hope to return again soon. The cabin was built by the owner and reflects his personality and values. You feel like you know him after a couple of days!

Great place to stay!

We loved the time we spent at this cabin. It has a great deck on the back with some awesome views! Very peaceful and tranquil. I loved listening to the wind in the trees. If you want that quintessential cabin in the woods this is it:)
