Description

Wake up to beautiful, unobstructed sunrises, and be lulled to sleep by the calming sound of the waves on your next vacation to Carolina Beach. Our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home is ocean front with a large single floor deck to enjoy relaxing on for your vacation. Our home sleeps 8 comfortably on two queens and two sets of bunk beds, and two more can be accommodated with a trundle and roll-a-way bed, making our unit able to sleep 10, if needed. Our unit (1575 sq. ft.) is larger than most 3 bedroom units on the island, as it is the entire first floor of this home, so the only stairs you need to climb are the one flight to get up into the unit. 
 
Our kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances - a French door refrigerator with ice maker, a double oven, a wine cooler, microwave and very quiet dishwasher. We also have all the other necessities that you will need to make meals at the beach - coffee maker, toaster, blender, pots, pans, stock pot, dishes, mugs, and wine glasses. We also have a grill if you wish to do some cooking outside and table and chairs on the deck to eat outside too.
 
The master bath has a whirlpool tub and shower, and the guest bathroom has a tub and shower, with a pocket door to maximize the use of the bathroom. 
 
Our home also has a laundry closet with a stack, front loading washer and dryer for you to use. Linen service IS INCLUDED WITH ALL RENTALS.
 
Our unit has a private beach access for those days that you want to enjoy the beach. We are also lucky enough to have a lifeguard post right by our house for added safety when bringing families and those new to the beach. We have an assortment of beach chairs for guests to use. There are also plenty of sand toys that we've accumulated over the years to play with as well. We also have a backyard (very rare on the island) if you want to bring your yard games to enjoy. 
 
If it happens to rain during your stay, there is plenty to keep you entertained inside. We have cable TV in the living room and master bedroom. We have a DVD/VCR combo in the living room, and DVD player in the master with some VHS and DVDs provided. There is also secure wireless internet throughout the property (from 30-65 mbps). Plus plenty of books and some board games to pass the time.
 
To make your stay hassle free, no parking passes are required (so no towing!) and there is enough parking for 4 vehicles (two covered spaces). 
 
We are approximately 1 mile from the boardwalk area, where there are restaurants and shopping galore, an arcade and amusement rides during the summertime. Also every Thursday night there are fireworks on the beach which you can enjoy down by the boardwalk or from the beach in front of our unit. Sunday nights there is a family movie at the lake (about 2 miles away). We are also two blocks from the fishing pier where you can buy bait and licenses, and only 4 blocks from the access to Freeman 4x4 Park.

Finally the owners live two houses down - so if you encounter any problems they will be there personally to get your vacation back on track.

About Marcus Matzke

My husband and I are originally from Minnesota. In 2007, we decided to be adventurous and move to another state. We had visited the Outer Banks on our honeymoon, but it was tough to find housing and jobs on the Banks. Someone mentioned the Wilmington area, specifically Carolina Beach. We'd never even heard of it, but decided to visit and see what Pleasure Island was all about. We fell in love with the place the minute we drove over the bridge - you immediately felt like you were on vacation. A few years later, we were fortunate enough to buy our first place at the beach, and we decided we wanted to create a business where people can come to enjoy our wonderful beach and spend sometime reconnecting as a family. Six years later, we own four rental homes that we run ourselves and enjoy having people join us year after year to spend and admire beautiful Carolina Beach.

Why Marcus Matzke chose Carolina Beach

We are very particular about the properties that we have purchased. When we first moved, we lived on the North End and really enjoyed how quiet and low traffic the area is compared to other places on the island. It is a mile from the boardwalk, but it is also away from all the rowdy hotels and bars as well. You can come home and know you will get a good night's sleep. Many of our neighbors live on the island year-round so it really feels like home away from home. Also we liked how close we lived to this property, so we can be at the service of our customers, if the need should arise.

What makes this Condo unique

My favorite part of this home is the balcony. It is large and the view is so wonderful. It is so close to the beach you can watch your kids from it, you can take in all the sights and sounds of the beach while sitting in the shade. Also the sunrises are unbelievable and it's always a treat when dolphin fins can be seen peeking over the waves. Also, you should look for the huge manta ray jumping out of the waves to catch fish - even after living here for 6 years I get giddy at the sight!

First Vacation


This was our first vacation as a couple and it could not have been more perfect. This place is very spacious and it met all our needs. The view and location where amazing, the pictures are beautiful but do not even do it justice. The host was fabulous, they where so nice and courteous. Lovely condo


We had a great time, the condo was clean and nice when we arrived. Only negative was the private beach access was closed off due to this past hurricane but public beach access was really close.
