Description

What we intend to become our retirement home in a few years,  our 1300 sq. ft. home is on the Anclote River between the Greek Sponge docks and the Gulf.

Grill fresh fish and set up dinner on the dock, then boat out to the keys.  Play golf nearby, hike or bike the Pinellas Trail that slips through the center of old Tarpon Springs.

With 2 bedrooms, 4 beds, we are set up for a very comfortable relaxed vacation for 4, with a pull-out queen in the living room for the occasional visitor.

We have replaced all the appliances.  Our HVAC is sterilized at the intake with a UV filter to keep the environment healthy even for sensitive souls, like us. A laundry room and garage keep things comfortable. The best place to spend time is on our dock with a floating platform, which allow easy access onto our kayaks, or a small deck for grilling or relaxing

We have two bicycles for your use, and a great Necky tandem kayak as well as a solo that give you intimate access off our dock to the river and bayous.

  • Scott & Betsy Taylor

Scott is an airline pilot, Betsy an artist, who are happiest near the water. Life-long sailors who summered on sailboats in Maine, and a lake cottage in Southern Ontario, our home was inland in the Finger Lakes region of Western NY. We have recently moved to the Boston area, nearer to two grown children (and our grandchildren). Our 3 year old grandson loves fishing or lying on the dock to observe the dolphins hunting together, watch the crabs and lizards in the mangroves, or the eagle battle it out with the ospreys in aerial stunt flying.
Scott and Betsy Taylor purchased this House in 2009
Why Scott and Betsy Taylor chose Tarpon Springs
After visiting the Tarpon Bayous and Anclote River and Key for years, friends found this sweet location and talked us into buying it to upgrade and share with them. Purchased from the family of the original home on 'Pioneer Point', we are in love with the setting and are continuing to improve the home. Because we use it as a second home it is outfitted as we need a home to be! The newest project is a dock rebuild with a ramp to a floating dock for kayak access. Shallow draft boats can tie up to the pilings.
What makes this House unique
Lovely, twisted live oaks frame the water view from the house, and the dock is a favorite spot to gather for watching birds, dolphins, the local fishing fleet and the sunset. Well around the bend in the road, it becomes a quiet, private neighborhood, safe from through-traffic, yet a fun bike ride or boat ride to the beaches. Kayak south to the Greek Sponge Docks for great food and entertainment, to the bayous, or north to Miss Vickie's to eat lunch on the water. Boat out the river to Anclote Key and Shark Island for serious beach and swim time.
When indoors, newly installed central Air super UV filtration system keeps the home allergen-free.

Awesome, calm and relaxing

This lovely home has a cozy, relaxing atmosphere inside and out. It\'s set to make guests feel at home away from home. Enjoy sitting in the Florida room as you have outside at the backyard trees and overlooking the river. Or go out to the docks to sit with nature alongside the river. There are many options. The location is close to some great beaches, local fishing spots, shopping and lots of places to visit and eat. Truly a nice place to get away for a while.

Clean, comfortable, and relaxing.

My family and I enjoyed our time in Tarpon Springs. The house was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. The owners were very helpful and accommodating.

wonderful house, great vacation

We loved our stay! The dock and view was terrific! saw bald eagle, osprey, manatees, dolphin.

Lovely riverfront home.

Home is older but clean and a great quiet location right on the river. Rented a boat for the week and enjoyed all that Tarpon Springs has to offer. Great stay.

Great location, amazing views, home has everything you need!

This home is in a great location, neighbors are super friendly, Scott & Betsy have thought of everything to make your stay easy and just like home. The views from the Florida room, back yard and dock are amazing; we saw manatees, dolphins (daily), stingrays and caught catfish from the dock. Howard Park Beach is an easy 5-10 min drive, the sponge docks are close and fun, downtown has cute shops. Eat at Hellas (touristy but tasty), Davidson’s Dockside Cafe (delicious food!) & Ella’s Cafe and Creperie for daily lattes, etc. We will absolutely try to plan another trip here!

Home on the Anclote

Beautiful house and location. Lots to do in the area. Great site for family get-together.

Third visit to this property

If you are looking for a quite, clean home to spend time at ,this is the home. It is not far from the beaches and restaurants. Just sitting on the dock waiting for the dolphins to swim by is relaxing. I hope Scott and Betsy don\'t retire next year so I can visit once more.
