Description

Churchtown Manor Farm Guesthouse is located 15 minutes from the village of Intercourse, in the heart of Amish Country. Staying at Churchtown Manor is an opportunity to experience a farm . Come enjoy and relax .

Churchtown Manor was formerly an Amish farm which was purchased by the owners great-grandparents in 1937. The farmhouse was built in the 1800's and has been remodeled recently. The Guesthouse was originally built for the owners grandfather after his son got married and took over the farm. The apartment has since been occupied by the owners parents as well.

Among the Amish and Mennonites, attached apartments like the Guesthouse are commonly known as the 'Dawdy House'. ('Dawdy' is the word for 'Father' in the Pennsylvania Dutch language that the Amish speak.) Often when a son takes over the farm, the father 'Dawdy' will move into the apartment so that the son has room to raise his family and also so that the father can semi-retire.

These apartments are also sometimes occupied by a newly married son or daughter. When you stay with the Stoltzfus' in their 'Dawdy House', you are actually able to experience part of the Amish and Mennonite culture!

The Stoltzfus' would love to have you stay with them and enjoy their 100 acre, organic dairy farm which boasts beautiful views of the countryside. When you stay at Churchtown Manor and experience the peaceful setting, let your mind take you back to what this farm may have been like 100 years ago!

The Stoltzfus' own Lena's Victorian Luxuries in Bird-In-Hand, a gift shop that will also take you back 100 years! The Guesthouse is decorated with items from their shop. You will definitely want to take a trip to the store to purchase a gift for that friend you left at home or a treat for yourself.

Shannon and I were born and raised in Lancaster County. I was raised on the 8th generation family farm that borders our house. As for Shannon, all her growing up years were spent on her parent's chicken farm only five miles down the road. So as high-school sweethearts, Lancaster County was all we ever knew until 2016 when God led us to teach at a Bible College in southern Indiana. Now with our seven children, we spend the school term in Indiana and come back "home" to Lancaster for the summer months. So when we're gone, our house is open for others to enjoy!!!

Chris & Shannon Lapp purchased this House in 2004

Why Chris & Shannon Lapp chose Leola

My grandparents built the house off the family farm as their retirement property. In the 90's, my older brother bought the house from our grandparents. Then in 2004, when my brother moved on the family farm, we had the opportunity to buy the home. So with the cornfield as our back property line, I never really moved off the farm. Being surrounded by both of our families, the picturesque setting, and the peaceful Lancaster county culture, there's no place we'd rather live. So because we've been so blessed, we'd be delighted to have you experience the setting we've been privileged to call home.

What makes this House unique

We'd love to have you stay at our home!!! With farmland in front and behind us, you'll love the peace and quiet. The great view from our front yard of the neighbor's produce farm will take you back it time. The idyllic setting is hard to beat and will make for a relaxing vacation!!!

Bring your quilting, sewing, or scrapbooking group and spread out in our spacious basement. Be sure to visit our quilt/fabric (Family Farm Quilts 3511 West Newport Rd. Ronks, PA 1757) shop just 5 minutes away in the town of Intercourse.

With the popular Amish towns of Intercourse and Bird-in-Hand only a few minutes away, our home is perfectly located for easy access to all the tourist attractions. Because Dutch Wonderland, Cherry Crest Farm, and Sight and Sound are so close by, our home is a great place to stay for a family vacation. With seven children of our own, our house is kid-friendly and perfect for a family of any size.

So bring your family, experience real Lancaster county among the Amish, de-stress from the busy pace of life, and make family memories that will last forever!!!!

Charming apartment!

What a wonderful 3 bedroom apartment!! The beds were beyond comfortable, the bathrooms were spacious, the kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved the open kitchen/living room area. On top of all that, we got to wake up to the amazing view! We had a fantastic time, thank you so much for opening your home to us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The property was well stocked and the hostess could not have been more helpful and attentive. The countryside was just what we wanted to experience.
