I have owned property in Dewey Beach since 1976. The property provided a weekend escape from the grind of a very demanding career in the CIA. In 1995, I upgraded my property investment to the current unit. Not sure where I might end up after I retired, I wanted a place that I could live in for extended periods when I was not traveling. As it turned out, I retired and built a new home two miles from the beach property. I maintain the beach property as an investment for my family and rent it to others who enjoy the beach and this rather unique location.

Why Fred W Henry Jr chose Dewey Beach
This is the best beach area closest to the metro areas of Washington, DC, Baltimore and Philidelphia. I discovered this in 1976 when invited by friends to stay at a place they owned in Dewey Beach. I enjoyed the environment, restaurants, and activity so much that I bought a condo in the same location two weeks later. I appreciate what we have here so much that I decided to retire here.

What makes this Condo unique
I do not stay at my property anymore. I live here. However, on occasion, I will go to the property with friends after we pick up a cooked lobster dinner at the super market, have cocktails and enjoy the most glorious sunsets off the mid deck. What is unique about the propery is during the summer, you do not need a car. There are great restaurants, bars and night clubs within short walking distance. And you walk one and a half block to get on the best beach in the proximity of three metro areas. You can fish, play golf, shop at the outlets on rainy days, or just sun yourself at the ocean or on the decks at the unit. There are night clubs with major bands in the evening and all day entertainment at many bars/restaurants. You can unwind with a book or engage to your hearts content. It is all here for you to enjoy.

Why it is Famous ?

This is the best and closest best beach to three metropolitan areas on the east coast. Washington, DC; Baltimore; and Philadelphia.

Facts About Destination

This used to be a real party town. That has changed and much effort has be spent changing that image to a more family oriented environment.

Area Information

Area is known and the summer home for many of Washington, DC lawmakers. There are more 5 star restaurants here than in the rest of Delaware.

How to reach

From Washington and Baltimore you have to cross the Bay bridge that is route 50 east Continue east on routes 404 east and pick up route 16 east. Continue on route 16 until you get to route 1. Go south and it takes you right into Rehoboth and Dewey Beach. If you are coming from the north, pick up route 1 out of Dover. Continue on route 1 until you get to Rehoboth. Stay on route 1 and it will take you straight into Dewey Beach. Route 1 is also called Costal Highway.

Transport system

There is a local transit system that serves the area during the summer. Best way to go to the boardwalk is to park your car in the shuttle lot and take the shuttle bus to the boardwalk.

Precautions

Weekends are very crowded and can be a bit wild. Weekdays are much less crowded and family friendly. Depends on where you are in life.

Lifestyle

Locals call it "Dewey Beach" A way of life. People of all ages have fun here. You can walk to the beach and all the bars and restaurants you want to. Park your car and leave it.

Best time to visit

Again depends on where you are in life. I am older and love the September time frame. But I was young once and bought my first summer place here in 1976. In 1998 I retired here.
