Both the centre of Calpe and nearby Altea are only a 15-minute drive away. Calpe has plenty of beautiful sandy beaches, such as Playa Arenal and Playa Levante. Playa Arenal is the largest beach, the small pebble beaches of Les Bassetes and Raconda del Port are very popular for diving and snorkling. These beaches are suitable for families with small children too, as they slope gently down into the sea. Altea is very picturesque and it's also called the most artistic town of the Costa Blanca. Walk up to the old town and explore the many narrow streets filled with bars and restaurants. You'll spot the famous Virgin del Consuelo church with its magnificent blue domes from a distance. Go for a nice evening stroll and visit some of the art galleries or make yourself comfortable at one of the popular outdoor cafes.
