Cefalu: Cefalù is set on the northern coast, 75 kilometres east of Palermo, from which it is about forty-five minutes by car, a bit longer by train. Cefalù is a picturesque medieval fishing village that enjoys a splendid position between the sea and a rocky promontory (Rocca of Cefalù). Cefalù is a built on the site of an ancient Sican an Greek settlement. The town saw its maximum development under the Norman king Roger II, The town nowadays is divided in two parts an old part that is mainly for pedestrians and has many nice little boutiques, shops and restaurants, and a new modern part.

The old town centre is dominated by the cathedral. According to tradition the cathedral and the adjoining abbey and cloister, the building was erected after a vow made to the Holy Saviour by the King of Sicily, Roger II, after he escaped from a storm to land on the city beach. The building was started in 1131. Imposing and attractive, the cathedral is a synthesis of several cultures. It was built by Norman

Around Cefalu: round Cefalù, places of interest include the Sanctuary of Gibilmanna - a hillside pilgrimage destination-, the ruins of Greek Himera, the Natural Park of Madonie mountains and Castelbuono - a mountain medieval town about 25 kilometres from Cefalù famous for the castle once owned by the Ventimiglia family, feudal lords of several towns in the area-.

Finally, Cefalù is famous as touristic site also for its magnificent white sandy beaches. The main sandy beach is in front of Cefalù and it’s called “lungomare”. There, it’s possible to find many different lidos that offer sun beds and umbrellas, as well as public beaches where you can stay for free. Lungomare is mainly a tourist beach and is very safe and strongly recommended for families with children.

Very peaceful property:beatiful sea view.

A very nice country house well equipped and confortable. The villa has 5 bed rooms. In 3 out of 5 bathroom is ensuite. We had most of our meals on the terrace. Great barbecue. In the larger one you can cook for 20 people: enormous. We involved us also as pizza maker in the external large oven set outdoor. The result was pretty good thanks to the help o Gianni (the manager of thr villa always avaible on our request to give us assistance). Cefalu is not far: 6 km. It is a bit overrcrowded but it\'s worthwhile going to the beach or walking in this pituresque small village in the eveing. Our children enjoyed very much the pool. The villa has several shaded area where you can repair from the sicilian sun. Sometimes . Thanks to God ac worked very well. I hope to come back again.

A very relaxing holiday

Five of us stayed at Villa Giovanni for a week. The views from the terrace and the pool were the things we most appreciated. The living & dining areas are open and spacious. We ate most dinners in and found the kitchen to be just what we needed. Villa Gioavnni is located perfectly for day trips to Madonie Park and Palermo. We shopped for our dinner supplies in Cefal, finding delightful produce, meat & fish markets. Gianni, the owner, was very helpful in giving us suggestions for site seeing. We are definitely recommending Villa Giovanni to friends for their travels next year! Hello Gianni!! Many greetings from Tom.
