Description

The original part of this fine country house is a medieval tower severed, positioned strategically to control the valley below, the border area between the Republic of Siena and the Papal State.  Added at the beginning of the eighteenth century and after the middle of the last requirements for the family of sharecroppers who lived there centuries, it has recently been the subject of careful restoration aimed at preserving the charm of the old estate, but without giving up the comforts needed today. Montefreddo di Sopra has a dominant position over the valley and a privileged view to the Monte Cetona and that extends until reaching the castle.

Its interior, spacious and bright, it has been decorated with care, combining with old family furniture gracefully with contemporary design objects

The bedrooms on the first floor, elegant and comfortable, have ceilings with wooden beams and each one offers a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. Montefreddo di Sopra can accommodate 7 people in the main house and 4 persons in the annex.

Guest Reviews

This was a beautiful, well maintained residence and our group thoroughly enjoyed ii.

After the Rome and Venice apartments, this was a very lovely, comfortable place to stay. The rooms were nice and big with good beds and bathrooms. The kitchen, dining room were very well done with plenty of room for the 6 of us. We also were able to build a fire 3 nights which made it a great place to sit and talk in the evening. Olivia and her assistant were very helpful and pleasant. The ride up and down the hill needed to be done carefully but we had no problems with it. We highly recommend Villa Montefreddo di Sopra and it would be the place to stay if and when we return to Toscana, Italy.

The True Tuscany

We have just gotten back to Trinidad and life as we know it. It\'s difficult to put into words how very much we appreciated all you did to make our Tuscany experience so truly authentic and genuinely unforgettable. It was such a pleasure to meet you and your sweet family and such s honour to stay in your home. We could not have asked for anything more lovely. Your home is beautiful and I hope to return there one day not too long from now. I\'m so very glad my parents were able to share this experience with us as I not sure how much longer they will be capable of making such long journeys and there were many special moments we shared together just taking in the views, cooking and eating at home, visiting the winery and castle in Umbria to name a few.
