Description

THE GUESTHOUSE - Viva la Providenciales from our well-appointed second story guesthouse adjacent to Long Bay Beach with a panoramic view of the Caribbean and Long Bay (a Kite Boarder's Paradise)! Designed by the owners as a home away from home rental, Villa Kendara takes full advantage of the location and combines the "Beautiful by Nature" theme of the Turks and Caicos Islands with island living in affordable luxury.

THE LOCALE - Swim and snorkel in front of the property and relax at the pool by day. Watch spectacular sunrises in the morning and sunsets in the evening. Private yet convenient to stores, restaurants, and activities, the guesthouse is perfect for a couple, but the twin bed in the Loft and the daybed in the Living Room make it possible to sleep additional guests. There is no need to bring much of anything except yourself and a few clothes because there is an abundance of supplies.

THE LAYOUT AND AMENITIES - Access to the guesthouse is via a private walkway, lined with tropical foliage. Once inside, you may relax in the spacious, vaulted Living Room; Cook in the fully equipped Gourmet Kitchen on stainless steel appliances aided by many small appliances, and food supplies; Eat inside or outside on the Furnished Balcony; Rest comfortably in the large Bed Room with its queen size bed and multi-drawer bureau; Pamper yourself in the Ensuite Bathroom replete with bubble glass shower, vanity filled with sundries, and mirror closet; Make good use of the Washer/Dryer Combo (detergent, iron, ironing board, and drying rack supplied). There are air conditioning and fans throughout, 2-TV’s, games to play, an alarm system, and best of all, the Exclusive "Johnson Guide to Provo" and the "Travel Guide" for the car with directions and everything you need to know about VK and Provo to enjoy your vacation. Outside, there is our 20 foot long by 4-1/2 foot deep pool, standing barbecue in the courtyard, and snorkel gear, portable beach chairs, and umbrella in the deck box.

THE SURROUNDINGS - Swim the coves and mangroves to the right of our property or the coral heads to our left, fish the shallows, kiteboard, or partake in boating and a variety of water sports activities. The pool is just steps away from the guesthouse. The water's edge is a minute from the pool down a short natural path.

THE CONVENIENCE - Want to experience what's beyond Villa Kendara?  An easy short drive brings you to Grace Bay, Blue Haven Marina, other beaches, restaurants, shops, Provo Golf Club, Casablanca Casino, and rendezvous points for activities on land and sea. For more adventure, travel to North, Middle, and South Caicos on the nearby TCI Ferry.

BEYOND VILLA KENDARA
THE MYTH - You want to visit Providenciales because it's consistently rated a top destination to vacation with the best beach in the world. If you're thinking that the only thing to do is sit on the beach and take in the sun, then you're in for a very big surprise. Of course, you may go to a different beach location every day, each one unique and more beautiful than the next; however, you may also choose from a wide variety of activities on land, sea and in the air.

WATER SPORTS -  Imagine paddle boarding through the mangroves; kiteboarding on Long Bay where the conditions are near perfect year-round; kayaking in small inlets around tiny cays or on Long Bay; diving off the coral reefs and walls; snorkeling right in front of our property. Fishermen take note that the shallows off Providenciales are teeming with bonefish, and deep sea fishing is phenomenal beyond the reef. Those interested in renting small motor boats and sailboats can chart their own course.

ISLAND PARTNERS - We have three island partners, Grace Bay Car Rentals, Big Blue Unlimited, and SUP Provo. Each offers our guests a 10% discount and is tops in their specialty. We recommend Big Blue for diving and excursions to the outer islands, such as exploring West Caicos, bicycling on North Caicos and spelunking on Middle Caicos. We recommend both for snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding, depending on your interests. Big Blue is more sports oriented, while SUP Provo offers a more educational approach. Each has an excellent kiteboarding program. Visit their websites for more detail.

WATER TOURS - If water sports are not your cup of tea, sit back, relax and put yourself in the capable hands of a tour boat captain who will take you to secluded beaches and places of interest.

ON LAND - Not into water sports or touring by boat, land lovers may enjoy horseback riding on Long Bay, working out or playing tennis at the well-equipped fitness center, golfing at the championship Provo Golf Club or gaming at the Casablanca Casino. Not into any of the above, then walk on the beach, bike on the secondary roads, rent a motor scooter, or pamper yourself at a spa.

FROM THE AIR - Maybe you'd rather see Provo from above; then a helicopter ride is for you. It's from the air that you really come to appreciate the color of the water, the patterns of the reefs, the number of cays and overall beauty of the Caicos Island chain. Those wanting a closer, more hands-on view can try parasailing.

DINING OUT - Provo is a treasure trove of eating experiences. Ranging from reasonable to expensive, there are restaurants for every palate including American, Caribbean, French, Fusion, Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, Jamaican,  Japanese, Mexican, Tex-Mex and Thai. The dress is always casual.  Reservations are required at some of the more popular restaurants. A few of them close during September to mid-October, but the list is dwindling as Provo is now a year-round destination. Many restaurants are 1 to 3 miles from Villa Kendara on your way to or in the tourist hub; a few are in Turtle Cove; others are off the major highways. Most restaurants have indoor/outdoor seating in inviting settings. Eat and watch the sunset overlooking Grace Bay; marvel at the color of the water and the tiny picturesque islands of Chalk Sound; mingle with the locals at our list of 'Good Value Restaurants' in the 'Johnson Guide to Provo'; watch boats in the Marinas; sit under the stars amidst a canopy of palm trees; admire the tropical foliage in uniquely landscaped gardens; pause for a bite at a beachfront café that is an extension of the beach itself. There are many combinations of cuisine and setting too numerous to mention.

FOOD SPECIALITIES - Wherever you dine, be sure to sample the local seafood such as conch, grouper, langouste, snapper, and wahoo. Provo is best known for conch that lives in pink pearl shells and inhabits the shallow areas of Long Bay and Grace Bay. Try fritters, lightly breaded and fried to perfection; fingers or cracked pieces with just the right amount of crunch; ceviche with its tangy flavor; the sauté with herbs over a fresh garden salad; chowder that varies from bisque to chunky with vegetables; a burger savory with spices. During the annual Conch Festival, restaurants compete for the best recipe in each category as well as new preparation ideas. Da Conch Shack, with its panoramic view of Grace Bay, is the best-known restaurant for sampling this delicacy, but we suggest ordering it as an appetizer or main course at any of the restaurants in the 'Johnson Guide to Provo'.

WHY RENT A VEHICLE  - To explore the 37.5 square miles and appreciate what Provo has to offer, you should rent a car from our island partner. Keep in mind that taxis and excursions that provide transportation are expensive so a car pays for itself in no time. Also, you pick up the car at the airport and drop it off there, which is most convenient. While most of our guests choose an economy car, those proficient in riding bikes or motor scooters may consider the latter. Information on how to go about renting vehicles is provided after you book.

THE BEST CHOICE - For privacy, best view, natural beauty, access to the water, the abundance of amenities and supplies, convenience to stores, restaurants, and activities, island partner discounted services, and the "Johnson Guide to Provo," Villa Kendara offers luxury at an affordable price.

Guest Reviews

A week in Paradise

We researched numerous vacation rentals on Providenciales before finding Villa Kendara. We were attracted by the panoramic view of the sea, the privacy, the ideal location, the abundance of amenities, and the reasonable rate. Our choice did not disappoint, being everything we anticipated and more. The guesthouse is spotlessly clean, meticulously decorated, fully equipped, and well-stocked with supplies. From the gourmet kitchen to the spacious living room, and the comfortable bedroom to the large adjoining bathroom, it is a gem. On top of this, you have the spectacular view that we can’t say enough about, simply the best on Provo! The “Johnson Guide to Provo” is also amazing. Here you have page after page of invaluable information about activities, beaches, restaurants, and sites to see, and the directions in the “Travel Guide” insure that you never get lost. While the island is varied and gorgeous, we particularly enjoyed snorkeling and swimming in front of the property, relaxing by the pool, and watching sunrise and sunset, an occasional double rainbow, and the stars at night. If you are looking for a rental, you can totally rely on the photos in the listing. What you see is what you get but even more impressive in person. Be prepared to be blown away by this home away from home!

Gorgeous property and amazing hosts!

We could not have been more pleased with our stay at Villa Kendara! The pool is gorgeous, the views are breathtaking and the apartment had all the amenities we needed . We had the whole property to ourselves for the first 5 days of the trip and then had the pleasure of meeting the Johnsons when they arrived for their stay in the main house. The \"Guide to Provo\" that Carol created is beyond helpful and lead us to amazing beaches, snorkeling spots and restaurants. We had 8 days on the Provo and feel we were able to explore almost all of the island though we can\'t wait to book a trip back to explore some more!

Excellent location. Carol and Becky were excellent hostess. See you in December!

Welcome to paradise

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Kendara from the moment we arrived to the moment we had to leave. It is an exceptionally clean and tidy property. Owner Carol Johnson has literally thought of everything to ensure your stay is relaxing and enjoyable, as well as well informed. Her guides were extremely helpful for two Turks & Caicos first timers. The view from the pool area is amazing all day, but especially at sunrise. The well appointed kitchen had everything that we needed to make meals when we wanted to stay in. Becky who met us at the Villa was delightful. She made us feel right at home. The Island and it’s residents are lovely, and we will definitely be back.

Great location

Thank you so much for the use of your guest house. Watching the sunrise from the deck each morning… Just Ahhhh! We had a fantastic 2 weeks here in paradise. Some highlights: Sunset Beach ( at sunset or anytime!), Mudjin Harbor & Restaurant on North Caicos, Turks Kebab, Danny Bouy’s – THE Best Conch Fritters, Ocean Vibes all-day tour, Malcom’s Road Beach- great snorkeling, Coco Bistro- Simply Elegant dining, Kayaking to Half Moon Bay- our own slice of paradise! Your guides were very helpful. The thoughtfully stocked accommodations made our stay very comfortable. Hope to visit again for another dose of Vitamin Sea!

Fabulous stay in lovely Villa Kendara

We really enjoyed our stay in Turks and Caicos. The apartment was perfectly sized for us and we appreciated everything was labelled for ease of use. It was immaculate, had all supplies needed and in an excellent location for easy access to everything on the island. We loved the privacy of the location. The Guide Books were extremely helpful and made finding everything on the island very easy. We especially liked the location of villa with the fabulous views of Long Bay and the close proximity to Grace Bay. Thank you for making our holiday very relaxing and enjoyable for our first visit to Providenciales. Our experience was very positive. We would certainly return again and would definitely stay at Villa Kendara again. It was excellent and suited us perfectly. A beautiful home that you must be very proud of. Thanks again for everything.
