Shades Cottage was founded in 1990 by Newton Johnson, well known as Bigga. This cottage was the first guest rental in Belmont. We strive to give guests the best Jamaican experience of a life time, one that cannot be forgotten. This is a family owned (family stays on property) cottage and that contributes to the homey feeling you get once you come on property. If you want to experience the rustic and natural Jamaica come to Shades Cottage your island home away from home.
Belmont is well known as a wonderful fishing village. It is home and burial place to Reggae icon Peter Tosh. It have a plenty of sight seeing, beautiful beaches and little shops and fruit huts. It is a very safe and comfortable environment and the people are very friendly and welcoming.
We have on site transportation available. However if you want to go out and experience how Jamaican travel locally to the town then you can go out and get a route taxi or bus at a very cheap cost.
hades Cottage and Belmont gives a strong Rastafarian culture. our cottage is tucked away in nature and is very quiet. most of the people here are farmers or craft vendors. Fishing is also a big lifestyle here.
You can visit at anytime during the year, since we experience a tropical climate all year round.
