The space
Fortsberg, the peninsula where House of Open Arms is located (Coral Bay, St. John) is home to a lot of St. John history with a fort at the top of the road and cannons beneath you. It is private property and accessible for those who stay here. St. John is full of old ruins, amazing sugar mills, winding roads and pristine azure blue water everywhere. Hikes are great adventures, snorkeling gorgeous, music and food fun.

Guest access
Around the bend from the town of Coral Bay, guests can walk to Skinny Legs in about 10 minutes or drive in less than 5. Quiet, peaceful nights without town noise. Perfect old world Caribbean experience set amid lush landscapes and pristine Island views

Interaction with guests
I live and work in the art studio above the villa and am available to answer all of your needs and questions but am unobtrusive. I love people, love to cook and I love my art. This is why I began this guesthouse. I offer a welcome meal on my guests first night arrival and homemade granola, coffee, tea, juice as well.

Other things to note
Surrounded by National Park, the views are sparsely populated. The villa overlooks Hurricane Hole, East End and Norman Island in the British Virgin Islands.

I own House of Open Arms on St. John, USVI. It is a lovely quest House: villa and separate cottage overlooking Hurricane Hole, East End and Norman Island.I am also a potter who sells her work to many on St. John and off Island as well. My main form of pottery is to create light sconces for people's homes. But I also do gallery work: urns, vases, vessels, bowls. I love people, I love to cook and I love creating artwork. I also love St. John and enjoy sharing this Island with my guests. I love to laugh and my life motto seems to be Carpe Diem!

House of open arms with a pool is amazing! The breathtaking views along with the beautiful house made our experience in St. John well rounded! Catherine’s hospitality is first class! I have been visiting St. John for 20 years and this was my most memorable experience thus far! Check it out for yourself!! Yhanks catherine, we will see you again soon!

Great place!

Your host Catherine is so warm and friendly, and full of knowledge of the area, she is a real gem! The position the villa sits on the hill is so magnificent..its a view you will never get tired of! We loved the quiet and peaceful atmosphere, its a great place to unwind.

Stop looking and book now!

I feel blessed beyond words to have found a House of Open Arms! My wife and I arrived and could not believe the beauty of our surroundings! We stayed for a week in the villa. The view is amazing and nature surrounds you from the view, the feel of the breeze and the amazing sound of the waves. Your feeling of being welcomed will begin with a mouth watering dinner prepared by the innkeeper, Catherine. She has such a kindness about her, that she truly lives up to the name of her establishment. Catherine has thought of everything so that all you need to bring is your swimsuit, a few clothes and personal toiletries (minus shampoo and soap as she provides an excellent organic of both!) Her homemade granola, coffee and organic juice are such a treat as you begin to settle in. Catherine can be found if needed, however you have complete privacy and will feel as if you are the only one on the property. With this being said, we sought her out and had great conversations. Her recommendations as a local to the island for over 15 years are so helpful. Based on her suggestions of beaches and locations, we were able to snorkel among sea turtles, explore private beaches and experience local culture and food. We worried about the state of St. John after the hurricanes, however it is coming back strong! The landscape is beautiful, the beaches are cleared so they can be enjoyed and the restaurants and shops are open and welcoming! The snorkeling was fantastic at Maho, Cinnamon and Hawks Nest. While we have traveled quite a bit, this was truly the best vacation thus far. The House of Open Arms allows you to unwind, reconnect and recharge. It truly is an experience not to be missed!

Breathtaking!

Everything about our stay at this air bnb was nothing short of perfect. Catherine is an attentive and accommodating host, providing a scrumptious homemade meal our first night there (with my crazy dietary restrictions and all!). There were so many personal touches, from the gourmet granola, the beach chairs and umbrellas and beach towels, to the really comfy bed. The views were straight out of a magazine. I can not truly say enough about our 8 day stay! Don\'t pass up this gem!
