April/May in Playa del Carmen, Via 38.


I love Mexico and this is the third time I have stayed at Via 38 condos. This time for 2 months. We stayed in condo A24poolside. We had a few problems initially with the A/C in the bedroom, which is probably due to the compressor needing replacement, the hot water tank had to be replaced, there was only one set of sheets for the main bedroom so we were continually washing and reusing them, small essentials, soap dishes, cleaning cloths for the kitchen, water jug,dish rack were missing but we easily replaced them very cheaply. There was also a broken refrigerator stored near the condo entrance waiting spare parts, that stood there unrepaired for the whole trip. Nevertheless, Gonzalo Maqueo, our contact for the apartment, did his best to resolve the problems as quickly as he could and our stay was not inconvenience too much with a low output a/c and a couple of days with no hot water. The condo is fine otherwise, and fairly well furnished, very ample for a two month stay, which we totally enjoyed. Via 38 is located perfectly close to the beach and Av.5 where most of the restaurants, bars and shops are located. The pool is the best feature of the complex and very welcome when it gets warmer. All the employees are very accommodating and pleasant people. Before leaving on our return trip we made sure to get Gonzalo to check the condo for any damages, there were none of course, but if you place a security deposit and want it back it is advisable. We are already planning our return in September.

Great amenities and convenient to the north end of 5th ave


Our stay was awesome. Gonzalo was very responsive and easy to get a hold of. Beautiful grounds, awesome pool with a shallow area for my toddler, 2 hot tubs, private rooftop area, balcony, great kitchen, an elevator that opened right in the apartment (awesome for strollers), and very helpful staff. The only bummer is google maps shows access to the beach down 38th, but the water levels were too high when we went. But Playa Mamitas was less than a 10 minute walk away and very nice.
