Description

The Yellow House is a large and elegant new home designed in the Bahamian Colonial style. It is located at the top of the hill in Governors Harbour, a short golf car ride from town, with restaurants and stores, and from world-famous French Leave Beach.

Yellow House is located in a small exclusive community of homes called Governor’s Estate. The Yellow House’s living areas open to gracious wrap-around verandas and a private swimming pool, offering the serenity of island life.

The first floor features the great room and dining room decorated with understated sophistication. The kitchen is large and modern, featuring stainless steel appliances and a custom-designed island – perfect for entertaining. The first floor also has a powder room, a guest bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a separate laundry room with washer and dryer.

The Yellow House has a total of four bedrooms, one on the first floor with twin beds that can convert to a king, and three on the second floor, including two with king beds and one with two double beds and a day bed. A private balcony from one of the king-sized rooms offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The other two second-floor bedrooms share a balcony and views of lovely lush landscaping. All bedrooms have en suite bathrooms.

On the roof, a large deck provides a spacious setting for spectacular sunsets and sweeping views of the ocean. The large first-floor wrap-around veranda includes a gas grill and outdoor dining area.

Yellow House has cable TV and WI-FI internet as well as a flat screen TV and multi-region DVD player – this means you can bring your children’s favorite DVDs from anywhere in the world and they will play here. There is also a large DVD library. The house is fully air conditioned.

Yellow House is set on landscaped grounds atop a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the town of Governors Harbour on the west. It is an 8 minute walk (or 3 minute golf-cart ride in our 6+ seat electric golf cart) down the hill to famous French Leave Beach, a mile long crescent of pink sand that has been ranked in the top 20 of the world.

A 5 minute walk (2-minute golf cart ride) in the other direction takes you to the village of Governors Harbour. Governors Harbour has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.

The island of Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is completely safe any time of the day or night. Enjoy the rare experience of picking up hitch-hikers and leaving your keys in the car wherever you go. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore.

Comfortable

A well appointed, clean, and very comfortable place in a great location. Highly recommended!

Beautiful, safe and perfectly located.

We enjoyed our stay at the yellow house a great deal. Eleuthera was as charming as in our memories but a bit more chilly than usual and the surf was surprisingly rough. That’s why a heated pool would have been appreciated. I believe it is in the owner’s plans and will make sure it is functional next time around if we return during the colder months. Definitely, a house I would recommend without hesitation.
