Description

This house has a screened-in porch, 57 ft. long, looking out over the marshes and a tidal creek with a view of Sapelo Island in the distance. Adjacent to the porch is a 16X18 ft. deck. Sit in our Hot Springs hot tub at night on that deck under a canopy of brilliant stars, undiminished by civilization's lights. There are five sets of french doors that open onto the porch on the southeast side. Open the front door and the french doors, and a gentle breeze blows through the whole house. Yet the whole house is quite private. Our house is adjacent, but away from your viewscape. No other neighbors are visible.

The kitchen overlooks the great room, with a view of the marsh through three sets of French doors. The master bedroom suite is on one side of the house, with the other two bedrooms on the other side. Two bedrooms, with King size beds and high-thread-count linens have French doors that open up to the porch. Or sleep on the bed on the porch, if you like. An office and den and the dining room is on the northwest. They overlook an almost private lagoon, that you can fish in and is full of wildlife and exotic birds, which include wood storks, black-crowned night -herons, white ibis', great egrets and snowy egrets, little blue herons, tri-colored herons, green herons, hooded mergansers and pileated woodpeckers. Porpoises will occasionally forage in the tidal creek right next to the house. The third bedroom, with a queen bed, views the lagoon and a corner of the marsh. We also have an office (with a futon) that faces the lagoon. If you just want to hang out, we have a flat screen HDTV, Blu Ray player, Netflix instant stream movies, plus a wonderful sound system.

Two sit-on-top double kayaks and one canoe are on-site, making it easy to get on the tidal creek right from our property. We also have eight bikes (five fat tire adult and three youth of various sizes). If you bring your own, we recommend fat tire bikes if you plan on riding on any of the many sandy roads. However there are many good rides for skinny tire bikes. For motor boats, there is a public launch for a fee (back-in trailer for free) a few miles away. Take your own boat out to Sapelo Island (within sight of the house) and its beautiful beaches, or take the $2 ferry from it's launch a mile away. Drive 25, min. to the Harris Neck Wildlife Reserve and see the finest bird rookeries on the Georgia Coast and probably the whole southeast Atlantic Coast.

Peaceful, relaxing retreat with plenty to keep everyone busy.

My family just spent 5 days at Marshbreeze and we loved it. My sons (both in their 20\'s) have very different interests. One is \"outdoorsy\", the other is not. Both were very happy at Marshbreeze and are interested in returning in the future. We took advantage of the canoe, the kayaks, the bikes, the hot tub and the nearby sights. The screened in porch is an amazing place to spend time relaxing. The house is very well stocked with much more than others I have stayed in. We traveled to both St. Simon and Jekyll Islands and the Harris Neck wildlife refugee and although they are all different, they are great places to see. Don was helpful and available for any needs you may have. Thank you for a great stay and hopeful we will make it back to your peaceful retreat.

Outstanding stay!

What a great place for a family vacation! Very secluded beautiful views of the marsh! We kayaked and canoed just be mindful of the quick tide changes in this area. The ferry trip to Sapelo is well worth it! This is our second trip to this area. There is so much to do it\'s hard to fit all to see in one trip. The house is spacious and has all you need. The back porch is simply amazing! Star gazing is plentiful. Don is great to deal with! We will be back because we love the Golden Isles of Georgia!

Perfect place to escape for a week

Marshbreeze was everything we were looking for in a coastal getaway. This was our first time exploring the Georgia coast and it was a terrific location. Don and Susan were perfect hosts and have a fully stocked and comfy home. Spending family time with meals on the screened porch will not be forgotten. What a relaxing setting to just watch the ebb and flow of the tide and listen to the many noises of the marsh. Highly recommend visiting Marshbreeze. Thanks! Mike & Gabi

Wonderful get away- A great place to gather and reenergize

My family had a one week summer vacation here, and with 5 adults and 3 kids, we all found something we loved about Marsh Breeze. The hosts, Susan and Don were very warm and responsive to any questions we had. The home was fully equipped with enough towels and linens for all of the beds and guests, and the kitchen with all of our cooking and dining needs. The open floor plan kitchen- living room made a great space for 8 of us to be together comfortably. Highlights from our time include: sitting on the back porch at every meal with the marsh breeze (we see why the house is named so!) steadily fanning us, watching herons, osprey, wood storks and many more birds fly over the marsh, star gazing from the hot tub, seeing dolphins swimming in Hudson creek while we were on a bike ride, and kayaking through the marsh at high tide. The Sapelo Ferry Dock is minutes away and we booked a tour on Sapelo Island- we highly recommend this, as the ferry ride and island are beautiful, and the island has a culture and ecosystem all its own that are worth learning about. Less than 15 minutes away is Fort King George, a pre-revolutionary war site with a rich history that explains how the town of Darien came to be. Also 15 minutes away is Turnip Greens, a great store that sells all local/Georgia products and produce. This house and location are a gem, and we are already planning our next visit!

Beautiful!

Marsh breeze was beautiful! It was everything you could dream of and more, the views are expansive and just going out listening to all that nature offers us is a gift in itself. Susan was wonderful in helping in whatever we needed and overall it was a wonderful experience. Thank you guys so much for letting us use your beautiful home.
