For nearly eight decades prior to its renovation, The Camp operated as Camp Mishemokwa where hundreds of children spent summers having all the classic first-time-at-camp experiences. In 2005, The Blum Family purchased the 150-acre property, spending countless dollars and tireless hours rebuilding, renovating, and giving The Camp a new lease on life as an exclusive vacation rental property.

The Camp is located near many of North Carolina's most senic attractions. Bat Cave is 4 miles away and has a general store and post office. Five more scenic miles bring you to Lake Lure, where Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey practiced dance moves on the moonlit water in the hit 1980's movie Dirty Dancing. There are several restaurants in the quaint town of Lake Lure, ranging in fare from old world Italian or German dining to casual tiki bar drinks. Just down the road from Lake Lure is Chimney Rock Park, a thousand-acre pet-friendly park whose main attraction is Exclamation Point, which offers a stunning view of the gorge below. Nearby attractions also include gem mining and whitewater rafting. Asheville, North Carolina, a popular destination for entertainment and fine dining, is just a thirty-minute trip from The Camp.

That being said, you'll find everything you ever dreamed possible right on-site at The Camp, making even a day trip seem like too much time spent away from your own pleasure island. Catering is available at The Camp, as is food delivery from dozens of restaurants. The Camp also provides plenty of firewood for your hot dog roasted on a stick and gooey S'mores that will make you giggle like you haven't in years.
