Kata Beach, Formerly a fishing village has developed in harmony with nature to meet the needs of a modern tourist destination. Kata Beach is one of the best in the whole Phuket and is divided in two parts: Kata Yai (big bay) and Kata noy (small bay) divided by a small promontory. The pleasant bay of Kata, just a few minutes south of Karon Beach, entices and charms many visitors with its white sands and clear waters. Very popular with families, Kata is an all round favourite due to its spectacular palm-lined beach, great restaurants, shops, dive shops, lively but not raucous nightlife and varied . From May to October surfers flock to catch Kata\'s waves and from November to April the beach is alive with sunseekers. The small island Koh Pu is at swimming distance from the beach, separated from the beach by a colourful coral reef.
