Description

Peacefully set within the boundaries of the National Park, Longlands Farm Cottage is situated in the beautiful Cartmel Valley, at the foot of Hampsfell. The farm is 4 miles from the southern shores of Lake Windermere and the charming medieval village of Cartmel is just one mile along the road. The family-owned farm is grazed by sheep and cattle and as we are voluntary members of the Lake District Environmentally Sensitive Area, every care is taken to protect the environment. Dating from around 1650, the cottage, with its metre thick walls, has been sympathetically modernised over the years, so that all the oak beams through-out the house and other original and interesting features have been retained. Sunny and south-facing, the cottage has pleasant views across the fields and woods, while along the front is a small patio-garden planted with flowers and climbing honeysuckle where garden furniture is supplied. Parking space is ample and well lit.

The cottage is atttractively furnished in a traditional style and comprises the following accommodation. Ground Floor: Lounge: Comfortably furnished with colour TV, arm chairs, sofa and coffee tables and sunny window-seat. Logs for the open fire are provided cut and ready, free of charge. Dining Room: Spacious oak-beamed room seating 6, with original window-seat and carved "spice cupboard" dating from 1698. Kitchen: Modern units with stainless steel sink: 4-ring electric cooker with grill and oven, fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine, coffee maker, toaster, electric kettle, iron and ironing board, full supply tableware and cooking utensils. Child's high-chair provided free of charge. Bathroom: Fully renovated with modern suite including bath and separate shower cubicle, shaver point, wall heater, electric heated towel-rail. An ancient studded oak "Hallendorr" leads to the staircase. Upstairs: 1 Double-bedded room with clock radio and hair-dryer; 2 twin-bedded rooms, all have fitted wardrobes. Bedding: There is a good supply of blankets and pillows. Guests may bring their own bed-linen and towels or these can be provided by arrangement and the beds made up in advance. Baby's cot is provided free of charge on request. Electric storage heating is provided free of charge in all living rooms and bedrooms and other domestic electricity is chargeable by a £1 coin meter.
