Description

Sedbusk is a small, picturesque village about a mile from Hawes in beautiful Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is an attractive, peaceful village with no through traffic, situated on the sunny side of the dale, lying on the old packhorse road. Nestling under impressive Stags Fell, Sedbusk is surrounded by hay meadows and upland pastures where sheep and cattle graze. Hawes is the market town of the Upper Dale and home of the celebrated Wensleydale Cheese.

A local farmer delivers milk to the village and there is a good pub within walking distance in the neighbouring village of Hardraw, famous for its waterfall.

Clematis Cottage is a lovely, spacious, old stone cottage, facing south with spectacular and extensive views across Upper Wensleydale. It is set back behind an old-fashioned walled garden – a real sun-trap –  and there is a walled, stone-flagged patio to the rear of the cottage

Downstairs is an entrance hall with wooden rails and hooks, ideal for coats and boots, a shower room/w.c., with electric wall heater and towel rail and a pleasant, country pine kitchen with Rayburn. The spacious dining room boasts a ‘Dalesman’ wood-burning stove and exposed stonework and the cosy sitting room its original fireplace.

Upstairs is a panelled bathroom and three bedrooms. The two spacious front bedrooms have original beam and board ceilings; one is furnished with a king-sized bed and a sofa bed with en-suite shower room, and the other has a double bed. The quaint back bedroom with its sloping ceiling and old exposed beams has two single beds.

Clematis Cottage has a payphone. There is private parking for two cars by the cottage.
