Somtara is a wonderful family retreat. But above this, it is an ideal romantic destination. Check it out with the kids if you like, but you will want to return without them too. From the outside and from pictures only, Somtara looks like any ordinary ranch style home, but step inside and you see what makes this home so very, very special: you get a truly Superior experience the entire length of the home on one of the island’s nicest lots. No matter what the weather is like outside, you’ll enjoy the views and sounds of Superior from the comfort and luxury of Somtara. Somtara has been well received and we are confident you will not be disappointed. But don’t delay; book early. There’s only one Somtara, which means only twelve or so summer rentals. Check the Summer Bookings page for summer openings.. Somtara is a well-maintained, clean, one level, two bedroom, two bath, year-round home on a beautiful and peaceful Chippewa Trail lot. It offers great lake views and lake sounds. The yard is large and pleasant. Beach access is easy and close: Somtara is on the lake, not across the road as are many properties. There’s a large, long deck out front overlooking the lake and a screened porch off the master bedroom. There is a queen bed in the master bedroom, two twins in the guest bedroom, and a sofa sleeper in the family room. There is a fireplace in the living room, a wood stove in the family room, and a firepit on the beach - a guest favorite.
The kitchen has double ovens, gas stove, refrigerator / freezer, coffee-maker, and microwave. And, new for the 2010 season, I’ve installed a dishwasher. With the view from the sink window, there was never a complaint. Still, who wants to do dishes while on vacation. A charcoal grill is out front too. The family room has two large picture windows in a corner offering great views of woods and lake. There’s a flat-panel TV with basic satellite service, a combination DVD / VCR player, and stereo in the family room. There are large picture windows in the dining area and the living room also. From throughout the front of the house, in the family room, in the kitchen, in the dining area, in the living room, and on the deck, or in the screened porch, the views and sounds of Lake Superior are wonderful. Somtara has been well-received and we recommend early bookings for weeks during the summer months. No smoking. No Pets. Maximum Occupancy Six. No tents or camping on grounds.
$2,310.00 per week double occupancy, plus applicable taxes.
Otherwise, outside summer, Sunday through Thursday: $225 per night. Fridays, Saturdays, and Holidays, including Bayfield’s Applefest weekend: $260 per night.
Additional guests extra, $15 per guest per night, Children twelve and under free.
