Description

Smiddy Cottage, located in the peaceful village of Horncliffe near Berwick-upon-Tweed on the banks of the River Tweed, is the ideal place for a luxurious break. The former blacksmith's shop (Smiddy is colloquial Scottish for a blacksmith) has recently been converted into a 3 bedroom cottage which sleeps 6, but maintaining features such as the old forge in the lounge. It has recently been awarded 'Four Stars'  from Northumbria Tourist Board. Conveniently located on the edge of the village, with views to the south over farmland to the Cheviot Hills.

The cottage has a garden, patio with barbeque area and ample parking space. Central heating is provided and the cottage is non smoking. The cottage is well located for visiting towns in the Scottish Borders, North Northumberland or the coast where Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle may be found. The 'Fisher's Arms', the village pub is a short walk away and serves excellent meals. Horncliffe is well off the 'beaten track' and has no through traffic making it even more secluded. The village grew up round the salmon fishing on the River Tweed; many riverside and countryside walks are available nearby. The Tweed Cycleway passes the village.
