Description

Breege and Tom Feneran would like to offer you a very big welcome and fálite romhat to our family home since 1975. The house, which was built by Tom, is situated in a secluded woody area with unmarred views of the Twelve Bens mountain range and 3 km from Clifden town centre. We are surrounded by vast native bogland and a small beech wood containing native wildlife and flowers.  The Bog Road and Lough Fadda Road area in which we are situated offers terrific opportunities for getting away from the crowds with long walks deep into conservation landscape. In Connemara you are never far from the Atlantic Ocean, the 4 minute drive from Clifden to Lough Fadda House takes you along the coast road and only 2 kms further along you will start to encounter the first of many white sand beaches for which the area is famous. The route from Clifden to Ballyconneely and on to Roundstone contains some of the most unspoilt and cleanliest beaches in Ireland, Coral Bay, Dunloughin, Gurteen and Dogs Bay to name a few. On our doorstep lay a huge array of activities to keep every member of the family happy, from the easy things like walking, cycling, swimming, to the more adventurous such as sailing and windsurfing, scuba diving and sea adventure tours.  There is also golfing and horse riding available for those that want to develop new skills or brush up on their old ones! We are here to help you make the best out of your stay in Connemara we are more than happy to talk you through the options available in the area.

Warm and comfortable single, double, twin and family rooms available. All rooms are ensuite with tea and coffee making facilities, there are spacious sitting areas with relaxing garden and mountain views in most rooms. There's nothing quite like the warmth of an open turf fire on a cool evening, relax into our armchairs for a restful evening after a day of travel and activity. The tv is available to you for your entertainment, please avail of our small video library should you wish to watch a movie, or pick up a book from our library. Here at Lough Fadda House we are very proud of our extensive breakfast menu, ranging from healthy options such fresh fruit salads, home made brown bread, cereals and juices to fully cooked breakfast variations to set you up for the day. The dining room is a great place to mingle and chat with the other guests and our uninterupped views of the Twelve Bens provide a relaxing ambiance. Early risers might like to know that sometimes you may be lucky enough to catch a hare or stoat racing across the lawn! Otherwise our dog, Prince, has been known to provide some morning entertainment, throw him a ball and you're his best friend for life. Feel free to relax and hide away from it all in our cosy library area.  We have a wide range of books varying from English and Irish literature, local history, gardening, Connemara pony breeding, maps, and much more. If you are interested in the local history of the area, Tom would be happy to fill you in on such events as the Alcock and Brown Landing of 1919, the Marconi Station and the building of Clifden's Catholic Church. Tom's grandfather a steeple jack by trade built the spire of the church as well as Inisbofin Church and planted the trees on one of Connemara's most recognised and photographed scenes, Derryclare Island.
