The living area is particularly spacious with full length doors and windows opening into the courtyard. The ceilings in the living area are vaulted and beamed and create a lovely feeling of space.

Two two seater sofas grace the living area and provide very comfortable lounging for visitors. A television with free view box and dvd player is provided.

The kitchen is a fully equipped and fitted modern kitchen with ceramic hob, electric oven, washer-drier, dishwasher, fridge and ample storage cupboards. The cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils are of a good standard (e.g thick bottomed pans) and are complete matching sets. The kitchen is fully equipped to include such items as garlic crushers and salad spinners.

The dining area has an antique pine table and chairs for four.

The bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite shower bathroom. It has two bedside tables, a chest of drawers, a fitted wardrobe and a three quarters length mirror hung on the wall.

Hydrangea shares a small inner courtyard with Japonica. The inner courtyard is gravelled and bounded by a low stone wall. In the inner courtyard are two cast iron tables and chairs for the occupants of Hydrangea and Japonica. The inner courtyard looks out to a central stone circle within the larger courtyard formed by the cottages and the rear of Downe House. With the central stone circle is a fountain and it is particularly pleasant to sit out listening to the cascade of water in the late afternoon and early evening.
