Description

Off season special November through April. Stay 4 nights and get the 5th night free
Newly remodeled 1br/1ba with exotic hardwood floors, porcelain countertops, nickel appliances and hot tub overlooking the lake. Great screen porch for afternoon leisure. 'Mile View is a cottage built on the shores of the beautiful and private Mountain Island Lake. Much of this lake is parklands, wildlife, sanctuaries and properties restricted from development. This home was built in 1952 and has provided decades of lakefront fun and fishing. Years ago the house was divided into two separate apartments. In 2011 we converted the upstairs into a vacation rental. We provide high speed wireless internet, flat screen TV's, comfortable furnishings but you can get most of that at a Holiday Inn. The unique experience you get with a stay here is that little step back in time. It starts when you pull in to the skinny gravel drive and end up at a plain but well kept mid-century home. There are paneled walls unit a/c and no dishwasher. No subdivision, no pool, no tennis courts. There are only two neighbors. There is a 2 bedroom unit above that is also available for rent. Unless you plan on renting both units you should be planning a quiet stay. Prior guests that have most enjoyed Mile View spend much of their time on the screened porch overlooking the lake. Mile View was built right on the lake's shoreline. You are so close to the boats going by you can see right inside them. At night when they cruise by you could truly join in their conversation. The place is very popular and in our decade of vacation leasing we have hosted nearly 1,000 guests. In that time we have learned that Rosella is not for everyone. We have tried our best to accurately describe the "experience". If that slow paced step back in time is not what you are looking for you may not enjoy Mile View, if on the other hand, you would like to relive the way things used to be or experience it for the first time we don't think you will be disappointed. We have contracted with a vender to supply you with a pontoon boat right at your dock. You can book it on getmyboat.com Search Charlotte It is a pontoon that is listed as Sun Tracker Party Barge DLX Tell Richard you are staying at Mile View.. He will give guests $50 off the posted price per day.

Note Dock, hot tub, fire pit and out door shower are in common areas

  • Bob Rudolph

We are Bob and Kim and we are lake enthusiast. We own homes on several of the lakes in the area. We presently live on a lake close by and we love this place so much we spend many weekends here. We hope you will love it as we do.
Why they chose this property
We lived here at one time and knew we could never part with it. Mile View is not an investment for us. She is part of the family. We know that if you stay here and get to know Mountain Island Lake you will be 'hooked' too. If you need to be in or around the city for any reason there is no other lake front property available closer or more convenient. The airport is truly just 10 minutes away. You would never guess that you were so close to everything when you are at Mile View. The county has bought all but three house to build a future 100+ acre lake front park. Rosella is surrounded by the park and lake. There is a small vacation home to the left that you can see. Other than that it is trees, lake and sky!
What makes this property unique
Many of our guests come to experience the National Whitewater Center. If you come, we strongly suggest you visit there. It's a man made river rapids that you can kayak or do a guided raft run. This is the only man made Olympic qualifying rapids in the country. There is vertical rock climbing, zip lining and a lot more outdoor adventures. If you don't feel quite that adventurous there is a riverside restaurant where you can get a great meal and a glass of wine while you watch crazy people careen down a wall of water and rocks. There are also summer concerts and island sunset parties. It costs just $5 to park and nothing to visit the center. You can drive from Rosella, park your car, and walk to the river's edge in less than 10 minutes.

Wonderful

Perfect location on the lake- easy location to access major routes, additional recreational areas. Comfortable layout of unit.... hot tub and use of washer dryer a bonus. Location of fire-pit for perfect star gazing.

Beautiful Lake House

We really enjoyed our stay at this little lake house. It had everything we needed for our stay and everything about it is well done…from the inside to the outside! We’ll definitely return when we have time to rent a boat and cruise the lake.

Amazing property

The entire process was simply EASY and there’s not much more that you can ask for in a rental property. The home was very neat and clean and the location is unmatched.

Lakeview Heaven

Bob's place is absolutely wonderful. It is quiet, short distance to lots of shopping as well as walking at the nature reserve 10 minutes away. The rental was so very clean and had everything I needed plus that gorgeous view of the lake. Bob also had all the good TV channels, Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc. that were free. Bob was very quick to respond (even though I had no problems). I will definitely return to this spot in warmer weather so I can enjoy not only looking at the lake, but getting in it!!!

Had a great getaway.

I have children and my husband and I wanted a place to get away that was close to home for our anniversary. This place was a perfect fit. Would be great to visit in the summer and be right on the lake!

Perfect mini vacation

Enjoyed every moment! The view is spectacular. The hot tub is an awesome bonus. My allergies went nuts when I got there and the host was quick to remedy it. Museum’s galore close by. Yummy food or full kitchen to cook. Would definitely return!
