Description

Glacier House Hostel, your home away from home!
Comfortable and economical bed in a four bed dorm.
Come for the aurora and winter sports, or in summer for light-all-night adventures! This is a great place to stage your Alaskan adventures from, we have plenty of room for your gear, and nearby access to suppliers.

The space
This is the five bedroom house I raised my children in, homey and comfortable and with a spacious back yard. There is a piano and guitar available, a firepit and grill in the yard, and our bookshelf includes an Alaskana section for you to enjoy. We have games and puzzles for you to enjoy while you are waiting for the aurora on a winter evening, or perhaps on one of the porches on a warm light-all-night summer evening. If you are inspired by the local ice art, this is a great place to try creating your own! Weather allowing we keep a few five gallon buckets full frozen and ready for you to play with.

Guest access
Common areas include two kitchens stocked with dishware and cooking gear, two bathrooms with showers, two dining areas, a living room with tv, front and back porches (the back screened against summer mosquitoes) and front and back yards you are welcome to enjoy. There is a laundry room available except between noon and 2 pm. ($3 load to wash and dry.) Bike "barn" in the back yard, optional bike rentals. Good spaces to hang up wet gear to dry if you get rained on!

Great

The hosts, Alex and Donna, are both lovely people! I had a great time in Fairbanks staying here & chasing the aurora.

Excellent

It\'s not close to downtown, yet still walkable distance. I loved staying there. The owners are friendly so as guests. Great stay!
