Description

A refreshingly furnished, privately owned and managed cottage, Beckoning Bay offers the serenity of nature, water activities, and close access to Midcoast Maine charms. Its blend of casual and sophistication sets the mood for comfort in this cottage on three acres fronting The Great Salt Bay, Maine's first Marine Protected Area. A highlight of Beckoning Bay is its 12x44 foot enclosed waterside porch. You choose whether to relax and watch unspoiled nature or get closer on the water in the provided canoe and kayaks. It's a private setting yet only a mile from the twin towns of Damariscotta and Newcastle with restaurants, shops and theater (live and cinema).

Perfect venue for our (very) small wedding party!

This property is even better than it looks in pictures. We were married in Boothbay Harbor on 11-17-18 and stayed here the night before and the night of our wedding. Our small family of 12 was able to enjoy cocktails, dinner and cake after the wedding, overlooking the amazing river view and (almost) full moon. We had everything we needed for hosting a casual dinner after the ceremony including parking for 4 families and plenty of room for mingling and visiting. David was amazing and accommodating, allowing us to rearrange the porch furniture to seat 12 for dinner. Do NOT hesitate to rent! This is a lovely spot and David is a responsive and caring host.

This was our best HomeAway experience ever!

My best advice to anyone looking for an enchanting place on the water that is close to nearby activities is simply \"Book this cottage\"! The view, the location and all the quality details of this cottage made our stay absolutely wonderful. It\'s so incredibly satisfying to arrive at a cottage you\'ve chosen through photos and find it not only as nice as it looks but better.....and we did! The cottage was immaculate, well equipped, had quality linens and was indeed charming. David, the owner, has taken pride in this property and is a wonderful, engaging host. Once you stay there, you will want to return again and again. Prepare to fall in love with Beckoning Bay!

Great Mid Coast Maine Home

Beckoning Bay Cottage is a beautifully decorated (loads of antiques) home with everything you could want. The glass enclosed porch across the back is perfect - when not out sight seeing we spent our time relaxing there. Perfect location for exploring the mid-coast region - 2 minutes from the entrance to Rt 1 yet totally quiet and peaceful. Great assortment of restaurants between Wiscasset and Damariscotta - head great dinners at King Eider\'s Pub and Damariscotta River Grill - breakfast and lunch at Crissy\'s - Sarah\'s in Wiscasset has Maine wild blueberry pie to die for. David is a wonderful host and showed us around the house when we arrived. There was a generously stock welcoming basket on the counter.

Clean cottage with beautiful views of Great Salt Bay

Peaceful setting with great views. Close to restaurants and activities. David was a great host!

Extremely relaxing and convenient to everything

David met the us and was very informative and gracious. The home has everything you would want. We went to Boothbay Harbor and went whale watching one day and took the ferry to Monhegan island on another. Both great. Went to the botanical gardens in Boothbay on David’s suggestion. Fantastic! Ate at Primos, Van Loyds Cafe, Dramariscotti’s River Cafe, Ports of Italy, and Shaw’s. All great. Public House not so much. Overall great area, house, and host.
